Executed 08 Jun 1875

I Edmund Dickenson of the County of Russell in the State of Virginia, being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this my last will and Testament in the following manner, that is -

1st I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid first out of my personal property. -

2 I give to my wife Polly during her life the use of one thirds of all my estate both real and personal -

3. Subject to the above bequest to my wife I give to my son Samuel Doickenson the whole of my Estate both real and personal of whatever kind it may be to have and to hold ti him and his heirs forever but upon condition that he takes care of my daughter Betsey during her life.

Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Samuel Dickenson Executor of this my last Will and Testament

At a Court held for Russell County at the Court House thereupon Tuesday the 8th day of June 1875

The last will and testament of Edmund Dickenson was this day produced in court and offered for probate-whereupon Geo. W. Dickenson & Robt D. Carty appeared in court and objected to the admitting of said will to probate and on motion of Samuel H. Dickenson the ___ of said will is continued until the next term. And the attesting witnesses thereto ordered to be summoned to the next term of the court.

At a Court held for Russell County at the Court house on the 6th day of July 1875

The last will and Testament of Edmund Dickenson deceased was this day again produced at court ___ ___ ___ ___ on whose motion will was offered for probate by his attorney the contestants Geo W. Dickenson and Robt D. Carty by their attorney con___ that ___ that said cause be transfered to the Circuit Court

At a Circuit Court continued and held for Russell County at the Court house thereof on the 2 day of August 1875

The last will and testament of Edmund Dickenson was this day produced in court and thereupon the two contestants Geo. W. Dickenson and Robt. Carty appeared in court and withdrew their objection to admitting said will to probate, whereupon said will was proved by the oaths of Wm. B. Aston and William G. Milton the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on motion of Samuel Dickenson the Executor therein named who took the oath of an Executor prescribed by law and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the sum of $250.00 together with James L. Williams and W. G. Milton his security thereto conditioned according to law.
