In the name of God amen.
I James Ray of New Garden, Russell County and the State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First - I order and direct my executor as soon after my decease as practicable to pay off and discharge all the debts, dues and liabilities that may exist against me at the time of my decease.

Second - I will and bequeath to my sons Calvin Ray, Madison Ray, Ira Ray and Fullen Ray all my real estate to have in fee at my death or the death of my beloved wife Margaret A. Ray whichever may occur last.

Third - I direct that my daughter Martha, now Martha Honaker, have in addition to what I have already given her one dollar and no more.

Fourth - I direct that my daughter Mary Liz. Now Mary Liz Wilson, have in addition to what I have already given her one milch cow.

Fifth - I direct that my four sons, Calvin Ray, Madison Ray, Ira Ray and Fullen Ray pay to the heirs of my daughters Nancy Jane and Caroline the amount of $40.00, forty dollars, that is the amount of twenty dollars to the heirs of Nancy Jane and twenty dollars to the heirs of Caroline.

Sixth - I direct at my death or the death of my wife Margaret A. Ray whichever may occur last that the residue of my estate with the exception of my household and kitchen furniture be equally divided between my four sons Calvin Ray, Madison Ray, Ira Ray and Fullen Ray and the household and kitchen furnature by equally divided between Calvin Ray, Madison Ray, Ira Ray, Fullen Ray, Nancy Jane Honaker, Caroline Honaker and Mary Liz Wilson or their then living children.

Seventh - I nominate and appoint my son Calvin Ray my executor of this my last will and testament whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 22nd day of May 1894.

The within and foregoing instrument was at the date thereof signed, sealed, published and declared by the said James Ray as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request, and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Virginia, In the clerks office of the Russell Circuit court the 24th day of June 1904 the last will and testament of James Ray dec'd. was this day produced in the clerks office afforesaid and proved by the oath of E. D. Miller and George W. Wilson, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who testafied said will at the request of the testator and in his presence and in the presence of each other and Madison Ray the other subscribing witness thereto. It is therefore ordered that the said will be recorded as required by law.
