In the name of God, Amen I John Bromley of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia being weak in body by reason of old age and infirmity but perfect in mind and memory thanks be to God for all mercies, and calling to mind the mortality of my body, knowing that it is apointed for all men once to die & do make constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first I recommend my soul unto God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in a decent christian manner and form without pomp or vanity at the discretion of my Executor in hope of a joyfull resurrection by the Almighty power of God, and as for what worldly Estate it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and bequeath in the manner following.
First I request all my lawful debts to be punctually paid
Item I give to my son John Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my son William Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my daughter Beky Thompson once Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my daughter Nancy Fanin once Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my daughter Polly Swaringgin once Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my son in law John Frasure one dollar
Item I give to my son James Bromley one dollar
Item I give to my grand daughter Jane Bromley a horse bridle and saddle to be worth one hundred dollars and two cows a bed and furniture and a little spining wheel.
Item I give to my son Samuel Bromley all the rest of my estate real and personal
I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint Samuel Bromley my Executor to this my last Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and this only to be my last will revoking Disannulling all and every other will or bequeathd by me made confirming this the last. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this (blank) day of (blank) in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four.

At a superior court of law held for Russell County on the 7th day of September, 1824.
This instrument of writing was exhibited in court as and for the last Will and Testament of John Bromley deceased, and proven by the oaths of Larkin Herndon and Richard Jackson, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Samuel Bromley executor therein named who made oath, and together with James Caldwell and George Cowan his securities, entered into & acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $600, conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted the said Samuel Bromley for obtaining probat of the said will in due form.
