I John Richmond of Russell County, state of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
1st I desire that all the perishable part of my estate (except what I leave to my wife) be immediately sold after my decease and out of the monies arrising therefrom, all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
2dly. After the payment of my debts I give to my wife Margaret Richmond one sorrel mare one cow and two steers one bed and furniture one duch oven a ___ ___ and basin and horse caring apparel a piece of ___ I have and the price of a good clock to her and her heirs forever.
3dly. All the rest of my estate both real & personal of what kind so ever it be I leave to the care of my son David Richmond and my friend Samuel Ritchie and my son James Richmond to be by them applyd to the support of my insane daughter Mary Richmond and in case any more of my children should become insane I desire they also may be supported as long as they live or the estate holds out, - and after their decease if any of the estate remains I give it to my children to be equally divided between them.
And lastly. I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends David Richmond, Samuel Ritchie and James Richmond executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 10th day of July in the year 1808.

At a court held the ___ day of September 1808.
This instrument of writing was exhibited in court as and for the last will and tesament of John Richmond dec'd and proven by the oath of George Lee, one of the witnesses thereto and continued for further proof.
At a court held in the said county the 4th day of October 1808.
This instrument of writing was again exhibited in court and proven by the oath of Jeremiah Culbertson another of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of David Richmond and Samuel Ritchie two of the executors therein named who made oath as the directs and together with Littleberry Robinson and Zachariah Fugate their securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of $1,000 conditioned as the law directs certificate is granted for obtaining probat in due form, liberty reserved to the other executor in this will named to join in the probat when he shall think fit. And,
At a court held for the said county the 1st day of November 1808.
On the motion of James Richmond the other executor herein named who made oath according to law and who together with Zachariah Fugate and Colberd Fugate his securities entered into and ackowledged their bond in the penalty of $1,000 conditioned as the law directs certificate is granted him to be joined in the probat of the said will.
