In the name of God Amen I Lawrence Vanhook of the county of Russell and Commonwealth of Virginia being weak in body but a perfect sound mind & memory do this twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & six, make this my last will & testament in manner & form following

First, I give to my son Archabald Ornald a tract of land lying in Reeds Valley, to him & his heirs forever.

Secondly, I will to my daughter Annas Jones ten dollars.

Thirdly, I will to my loving wife Rachel all the rest of my estate real & personal during her natural life or widowhood to make use of at her descretion for the support of my surviveen family.

Fourthly, my will and desire is that at the death or marriage of my loving wife Rachel that all my estate real & personal which has not heretofore been particularly been disposed of to be equally divided amongst my surviving children heretofore named - Rebeckah, Betsey, Mary, Margaret, Bridget, Archabald Ornal, Sally, Pheeby, Cathran Lea.

Fifthly, My will and desire is that after my decease that my estate shall not be appraised till the death or marriage of my loving wife.

Lastly, I do nominate & appoint my loving brother in laws Abraham Fuller & Ephraim Sergant executors of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills heretofore by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal the day & year above written.

March the 9 in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven I Lawrence Vanhook being in sound mind & memory do make this supplement to my last will & testament above written, whereas I omitted leaving my loving wife Rachel in case she should marry after my decease any of my personal estate it is my will & desire that in case she should marry that she shall have one fourth part of my personal estate for her own use forever.

In witness to the same I do hereunto set my hand & affix my seal the day & year above written in the presents of the above witnesses.

At a court held for Russell County the 7th day of April 1807. This instrument of writing was exhibited in court as & for the last will & testament of Lawr. Vanhook dec'd & proven by the oaths of Wilson Vermillion & Francis Browning two of the witnesses & continued for further proof. And
At June court 1807 - It was again exhibited in court & proven by the oath of James Scott another of the witnesses hereto & ordered to be recorded: - and on the motion of Abraham Fuller & Ephraim Sargeant executors therein named who made oath as the law directs & together with Aaron Hendricks & Jacob Rasnake their securities entered in and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of $3000.00 as the law directs, certificate is granted them to obtain probate in due form.
