QRYTEXT: William MANN, b. 1808, mar. Rhoda HOWARD, 1832 in Floyd Co., Ky.

I believe that this William goes back to the MANN'S in Russell County, Virginia. This is what I have found on the Tax List.

1792-Russell Co., Va.
Alice MANCE? (0)(Could this be MANN?)

1793-Russell Co., Va.
Alice MANN (0)

1795-Russell Co., Va.
Alice MANN (1)

1796-Russell Co., Va.
Alice MANN (1)

1797-Russell Co., Va.
Samuel MANN (2)

1798-Russell Co., Va.
Samuel MANN (1)
William MANN (1)

1799-Russell Co., Va.
Samuel MANN (1)
William MANN (1)
To be on Tax List: All males became tithable when they reached the age of 16. Males become responsible for paying tax when they reached the age of 21. The first number after the name represents the number of tithable persons above the age of 21. Women are often found with a zero following their names. Women are not tithable and in those cases, no tithable males were living in the household.

I am trying to figure out, Alice showed no males tithable in the year 1793, but in 1795 & 1796 she showed one. In the year 1797, Samuel MANN shows up with two tithable males. In 1798, Samuel MANN shows one tithable but then a William MANN shows up with one tithable male. The year 1799 is the same as 1798.

I am trying to figure out which one could be my William MANN(1808) mar. Rhoda HOWARD in 1832 Floyd Co., Ky (ancestor.)

Is this Alice MANN (ALLY) the one who gave permission for dau. Nancy MANN to marry Jeremiah PATRICK? in Floyd Co., Ky. She was never on the tax list after 1796 in Russell Co., Va., but she could have been living with Samuel or William.

Would love to have some input from other MANN researchers.

1797-1798 Signers of Petition to form TAZEWELL Co., Va. Some of the signers from Russell Co., Va. were:

William MANN
Samuel MANN

I haven't found them between the time period of 1798 to 1810 when they (Samuel & William MANN) appear on Floyd County, Kentucky census

In Floyd Co., Ky marriage records, Nancy Mann mar. Jeremiah Patrick. Nancy's mother, Alley gave her permission. I think Alley is a nickname for Alice. So this could be Alice Mann listed in Russell Co., Va.

Note: There were Patrick's also in Russell County, Va. when the Mann's were there.

The way this looks to me is that Alice is Samuel & William's mother. Can anyone help me out, please? I have been looking for a connection for a long time

QRYTEXT: I am looking for a complete list of the descendents of John and Jane Stinson. I know that John Stinson bought a farm on Lewis Creek in Russell County on 8/21/1797 and that he died in 1820. My Grandfather was Houston Stinson of Honaker. His Father was Charlie Stinson, born 12/6/1873 and his father was Arch Stinson (born around 1840).
