RUSSELL COUNTY - I am looking for any and all letters written during the
Civil War for Russell County. If you have anything please send my a
copy. I will reimburse postage. I am collecting, editing, and
annotating letters from Russell County. I currently have over 150
letters to use and I want more. Each letter will be transcribed,
described, and edited not al all. I will be putting up the name index to
the collection in a few months. Anyone who submits a letter or letters
will get a free copy of the book, which I plan to publish myself so don't

Russell (b. abt 1807), Lemuel (b. abt 1809), Sarah (b. abt 1816 - soon
after the death of her father)

I am trying to find any information on my gg-grandparents SAMUEL P.
THOMPSON b. abt 1824 and SARAH J. (WELCH) THOMPSON b. abt 1831, both were
born in Ashe Co., NC. Their children were: Henry, John, James, Nancy,
Mary and Samuel. They moved from Ashe Co., NC to Russell Co., VA and then
to Pike Co., KY. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for any information about the Tiller or Davidson familys of
Tazwell Co. MY Greatgrandfather Hiram A. Tiller is buried in the old
May's Chapel Cemetery at Witten's Mill. Also I have a list of the names
of other people buried there if anyone want's to check for any of their
relitives.My Grandmother was The Former Lilly Davidson. She married Jake
Wayne Tiller. The lived in what was known as "The Divides"
before moving to Mercer Co. WVA. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Richard Allen (born c. 1797 in NC or KY and died c. 1869
in Morgan, Co., KY) married Edie Williams on 20 Jan 1819
in Floyd Co., KY. Edie was the daughter of Daniel Williams
and Violet Crouch. Tradition says Richard Allen's father
came to America from Wales in the 1700's. He is said to
have come to Kentucky from the Wythe Co., VA area. Richard
owned land and settled near Caney, KY near White Oak
Creek. Richard is listed in the 1820-1850 Census
records for Morgan Co., KY. The children of Richard and
Edie were:

descendants down to the present. What I need is
information on Richard's ancestors and how he was related
to the other Allen's who were his contemporaries in the
Morgan, Floyd, Magoffin Counties of Kentucky. I would
appreciate any info regarding his ancestors and their

Austin was born abt 1795 in Amherst County, Va.
Died Dec 22, 1868 in Lee County, Va. Married Elizabeth "Eliza"
WOOD. She was born March 1804 in Franklin County, Va and died
After 1900 in Lee County, Va.
Austin and Elizabeth were married Jan 21, 1824 in Franklin Co.
Va.They had at least eight childern:
Annaniah, William, Letha, Nancy, John, Noah, Delila and Alexander.
All were born in Lee County..
I've been stuck on this line for sometime now. Will gladly
share with others..

My wife descended from the MULLINS of Virginia. Her mother is Greta Sue
Copas Mullins, born 3/23/1937 in Lee County, Va. Greta's father is Guy
Harmon Mullins, born 10/10/1913 in Lovelady Gap, Va. Guy's father was
William Matson Mullins, born 1885, in Wise County, Va. He died
10/17/1918. William is buried in Bishop cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Va.
William's father may have been a J.C. "Cad" Mullins. I am
