(1.) David Kennedy born about 1740?, came to this country from Ireland ?

It is rumored that he first settled in North Carolina sometime in the 1790’s died between September 22, 1799 and June 13, 1800 while on a horse selling trip to the Carolinas., married Mary Elizabeth Conway born about 1734 in Scotland however it is also claimed that his wife’s maiden name was Mary Thacker.

This is probably true as the Thacker family came over about the same time as David. David Kennedy purchased lands on the Clinch River in Russell County, Virginia in the year 1790. David Kennedy and Mary married in 1793-4? in Virginia., (She was shot to death June 10, 1800 [about age 26] during a quarrel with a neighbor Elizabeth Hursk)

Mary (Elizabeth) KENNEDY, b. 1795 in Beck's Branch, Russell County, Virginia [Daughter of David] (also recorded as being Jessee’s Branch of the Clinch River, Near Burtons Ford). Married James Wilburn he b. Abt. 1799 in Giles County, Virginia. Mary Kennedy married James Wilburn in 1811 in Russell County, Virginia.

QRYTEXT: Well friends, the Russell County VA courthouse burned, so there are no vitals prior to 1830. The 1900 Meeker Co. MN Census has Wm Fuller b. 1827 [probably Russell Co.] VA--my gggrandfather,m. Mary 'Polly" Sword in Pike County KY and lived on Island Creek many years--and this census indicates his father was born in NC. The existing theory is that his parents were John Compton and Rebecca Wallis (she born in VA.) There are Johns I have located in NC, but none that I have been able to develop so far. Can you folks researching the NC branches give me some proof as to Wm. Fuller Comptons parents? Orange County in 1810/1820 appears to be a hotbed of Comptons, although there are those in other counties
