Original Trustees from Russell Co., Deed Book, include MARTIN, BAYS, GRACE, DYE, VANHOOK, and JOHNSON. Would like to locate church records of baptisms, marriages, births, etc. Any help appreciated.

I am looking for information on my grandfather Rice Thomas of Dante, VA. He was born 4 Nov, 1883 and died 15 May, 1966. His wife was Della Mae Johnson whose father was Isaac Johnson. Lewis STILL left Russell County around July 1822 'on a long journey for which I may never return.' He didn't. His daughter Elizabeth married Mark Ross ca 1837. They were living in NC when their son was born in 1828, but were in Russell Co again in 1829. What could the journy have been? Do you know anything about either the Still or Mark Ross family? I am searching for information on the lineage of Pleasant Horne. Pleasant, who married Hulda Osborn(e), was, according to my father's notes, born in North Carolina. He died in what was then Russell County, Virginia. Their children were Mary (m. John F. Kennedy), Solomon (m (1) Elizabeth Osborne and (2) Peggy ?), Ichabod, Judia (m. Oliver Powers), and Sabra (? Gibson). I have some of their lineage, but just bits and pieces. In 1820, Pleasant's family consisted of two males and six females. He was a surity for his father-in-law's will. In 1822 he was deeded 200 acres on the Roaring Branch by James and Mary Osborne and they sold him a tract of land on the Clinch River in 1857. His grandson (?) was Nicholas Horne who lived on land which was bordered by the Guest River. Nicholas married Nancy Virginia Donahue and they had fourteen children, my great, great grandfather, Henry, being their eighth one. I have several books filled with partial information on this section of the family, but would love to fill out the blank spaces and add some pictures. I have one of Francis Marion, Henry's first born, who was my great grandfather. However, I have never seen pictures of any of F.M's siblings or of his father/mother. I have been to Coeburn and, while there, visited the Horne Cemetery. Is "Sis Gibson", Sabra?

Is there a Brumley Gap in Russell County or Washington County? My father, Archibald Heith HARRISON was born in Russell County and in later years, he would mention Brumley Gap. Archibald Heith HARRISON and his brother, Vernon HARRISON were the sons of William Arthur HARRISON and Marietta HARVEY. William Arthur HARRISON was one of 11 children born to Amos HARRISON and Elizabeth JASPER. Marietta HARVEY was one of three children born to Andrew Kemper HARVEY and Elizabeth GADD.
