What so befuddles me is info. stating he moved to the Elk Garden area of Russell County, VA in 1771 with the Hendricks family. Since he married their daughter, he's not related. Why is he with this family? He apparently had two brothers, John L. and Mancil. I'm hoping there our some Hendricks' out there that might have something in their records

Jonathan PRATER appears on the 1795 Russell Co. VA tax list as an assignee of Elexious MUSICK. After Jonathan's death in 1795 Elizabeth PRATER appears on the tax list. There is supposedly a will for Abraham MUSICK naming his heirs, including Elizabeth PRATER. Does anyone have info on this family

QRYTEXT: Elizabeth Blair was born abt. 1799 in Rowan Co. NC to Jacob Blair and Margaret Walker, in about 1820 she married John Chaney and they lived around the Blair clan in Russell Co. VA. Between 1820 and 1840 John & Elizabeth "Betsy" had 4 daughters. There were also 4 sons. By the time 1850 came about, the family was separated, and the girls are no where to be found. We have no names for them, and if they survived, we believe they married people in Russell Co. VA area and very possibly moved from there to Meeker Co. MINN. Russell Co. still has a Chaney School and creek where the family lived. The family later moved to the area in Russell Co. that later became present day Dickenson Co

He died about 1839, Molls Creek, Russell County Virginia After Francis died, John H. bought Francis estate from his brothers and sisters. John Henry Porter, son of Francis Porter and Melinda Johnson, was born 1803 Wilkes Co. North Carolina. He died 8 February 1872 in Elliott Co. Ky and buried in the Old Porter Cemetery on the Backbone in Elliott Co. Kentucky. John married February 1, 1825, Wilkes County North Carolina, Sarah “Sally” Shue in Wilkes Co. North Carolina. Sally was born 1810 North Carolina and died about 1852 in Molls Creek, Russell Co. Virginia. John married second 24 June 1855, Cenia Salyers his next door neighbor born about 1830, the daughter of Jeramiah and Mary A. Salyers. John and Sally had 14 (possibly 15) children. After John married Cenia they had seven children. John and Cenia came to Elliott Co. Ky. in a covered wagon about 1859. Any one know if there are graves along the Moll's Creek area with Porter's on them
