James Boyd. Census reports show he was born in Va CA 1795.Stories have it
that he came from Russell Co, "Swords Creek" area. First family seemed to
consist of sons Greenville, Isom, and Hugh, possibly others. Wife unk.,
could have been a Blair, or Brown. Moved to Lawrence Co., Ky. in early
1800s'. By wife Sarah Pack, raised another family including sons James,
Anderson, and Edward, my gr. father. Scott Boyd was my father.

Smyth Counties" on the RUSSELL Cty Website cannot be correct. The family
of Henry Powers born 1808 in VA and Sarah Gobble are listed in the 1830,
1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 Washington County Census. The Henry Powers Jr
family of Stokes County is listed on the 1820, 1830, 1840, and James
Powers on the 1850 Census of Stokes county.
The death certificate of David Powers, son of Henry and Sarah Powers
states Henry Powers was born in RUSSELL, VA and confirms the Census
Records indicating VA as the birth state. The children of Henry and Sarah
and their marriages are correct. If looking for the parantage of Henry
Powers of VA, please help me research the Elder Peter Powers listed on the
1820, 1830 Washington County Census in the Holston area, the 1810, 1820
RUSSELL COUNTY Census and the 1790 to 1805 Grayson County tax records.
