Looking for information about the following families who lived in Bedford County from 1787 to 1796. John GRANT & 1st wife Lydia (Violet) lived on Enoch's Creek 1787-1794. He bought land on Merriman's Run in 1794. He also married Edith BROWN in 1794. Edith 1st appeared on tax lists in 1789 apparently a widow. Her probable children: George Thomas, Dance (Daniel), Martha, Sarah, Rahab. These families left for Giles/Montmomery Co. around 1796 where Dance mar. Keziah GRANT, dau. of John GRANT. Sarah mar. Hardy CALDWELL, s/o Seth CALDWELL. Martha mar. David ALSUP, s/o John ALSUP. Rahab mar. James CALDWELL. Also searching: Soloman HARDY family (d. 1805) - originally lived in Loudoun County, and interested in any families living in the area of Beaverdam Creek from 1750-1800, especially BROWN families.

Looking for information on the following families who hived in Russell County around 1805-1810: (Seth CALDWELL, Claiborne HICKS, John JESSEE, & Charles KEEZEE = living on Beck's Branch), (Any BROWNs & BELSHERs = living on Cedar Creek), (John GRANT & Henry KIRK = living on Sinking Creek & Mill's Creek). Any information in this county - especially prior to 1805 on these families would be appreciated. My Brown & Grant families came from Bedford Co. to Montgomery/Giles Counties to Russell Co. Most of them left by 1809.

Looking for information on by great grandfather: Nathan or Nathanel PATRICK from the Russell County , VA area maybe ST.Paul or Dante, VA. HE died around 1938 or 1939. Married a Patricia or Patsy ( no last name). Had four children: My grandfather- Charles William PATRICK born 1895 and married Eliza Lola ELAM in Elkhorn City, KY Pike County. Eliza's mother was Martha Jane POTTER Elam born in 1905 and she married Walter Hiram ELAM. Nathan and Patricia other children are Robert PATRICK, Sr., Dewey PATRICK, and Hester PATRICK. My Father Grover C. PATRICK only remembers Nathan on a visit when he was very young. They went from KY to VA to a hollow and Nathan lived on the side of the mountain and had a long white beard. I am doing research on my mother's side of my family and would appreciate any help from anyone. Their last names were Ball and McCracken. They were married in Doubles, VA. My grandfather's name was Arthur Preston Ball and my grandmother's name was Mattie Tillie McCracken. As far as I know, Arthur's parents were Shade Wilson Ball and Kattie Hess Ball. Mattie's parents are listed as Bud and Bell. His real name was Noah McCracken (I've been told) and her name was Isabelle Black. I, however, have no proof of this. My grandfather went to school in Russell County and my grandmother was supposedly born in Washington County, VA. My grandfather was born on August 5, 1900 and my grandmother was born May 25, 1903. If anyone could help me, I would certainly appreciate this.

I am looking for info on William Martin Sexton, B Sept. 25, 1835 in Russell Co., VA. He is the father of Andrew Jackson Sexton, B 1858, my great grandfather. William M. wifes name was Martha Jane Nelson. I believe his brothers name is Calvin. William M. and Calvins fathers name was also William and their mothers name was Nancy Moore Sexton. William and Martha left VA. about 1864, to avoid conscription into the Confederate army. Andrew was probably born in Russell Co. but they lived in Wythe Co. for sometime.
