Isaac Burton and Amanda Wampler Burton

"This old photo taken in the 1800's shows William Isaac Burton and his wife Amanda Wampler  Burton.  The picture was contributed by Butch Caudill of Big Stone Gap, Burtons great grandson. There are serveral other Great-granchildren of the Burtons in the Big Stone Gap area, he noted.  Burton joined Gen John Hunt Morgans Kenucky Calvary when he was but 14 to fight in the civil war.  Burton was captured and put in prison, to be released only after taking the oath of allegiance to the union.  He returned home and married Amanda Wampler, residing in the powell valley area."
