Notes:  Moody Godwin m. Mattie (Geneva) adopted Merrits . Judge in 
Geneva,two boys and two girls.

Moody and Mattie had the following children:  Lamar, Lee, Rilla m: 
Whitley, Cecil died in service, Dora (boy?), Robert killed in car 
accident, Rachel m: Troy Penton, and Junior called "Nub".

According to Mrs. Allen, the Godwins were in Wilcox County, AL.  I. J. 
Godwin signed a contract for the year 1885 to work on halves in farming 
with Richard Hale in the Ft. Deposit, Greenville, AL Area.

Note #2.  Mrs. Allen also stated that Johnie Ruth Jenkins in Montgomery,
AL did family research.  There is also a published family history on the
Godwin Family.
