The Mark Jernigan Family

Mark (27 Feb 1832 - 5 Nov 1912) This picture was taken at the 80th birthday party for Mark Jernigan. I'm sure you'll realize we're in the "deep south" by recognizing the "Confederate National Flag" in the background.(one of the 1st flags of the Confederacy)

There have been several corrections to the name notations. by khquave@yahoo.com Kathy Quave, Great grand-daughter of Mark Jernigan.

He is buried at Springhill Methodist near Chumuckla beside his first wife, Martha Jane Jernigan, daughter of Joseph and Caroline Jernigan.

Next to Mark Jernigan (seated) is his second wife:Addie Virginia Wilson. Their family is to the right. The youngest son Arthur Leslie Jernigan "Otho" is anding next to Addie, then Annie Laurie in the back. Then Violet Esther (in the front next to "Otho". The young man second from the right in the black suit and white hat is Mark Chafin, with Velma Ellen next to him. Mark's 1st family is to the left. To the far left is Edward Martin Jernigan. We don't have all their names. The original photograph is owned by Larry Ellis, a cousin and Jernigan descendant.
