George Coffman rites slated in Franklin
George J. Coffman, age 87 of 148
Banta Street, Franklin, died Wednesday
evening in Johnson County Memorial Hos-
pital after a 10-week hospitalization.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Satur-
day at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home
Franklin with Rev. Myron Kauffman of-
ficiating. Friends may call anytime
after 2 p.m. Friday; burial will be in
Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Coffman was born Oct. 7, 1882
in Bartholomew County the son of John
and Sarah Coffman. He received his edu-
cation in the Bartholomew County schools
and married the former Esta Batton who
survives.
A farmer, Mr. Coffman had hauled
milk for local farmers and at one time
was employed by Fertig’s Dairy. He had
worked at Johnson County Memorial Hos-
pital for 15 years, attended Tabernacle
Christian Church, and was a former
member of the Odd Fellows and Redman
Lodges.
Surviving are the widow, Esta,
a patient in Westminster Village; a son
Maurice Coffman of Zionsville, and a
daughter Mrs. Doris McLean of Colorado.
Two grandchildren, five great-grand-
children, a brother Charles Coffman
of Trafalgar and sisters Mrs. Myrtle
Cobb of Nineveh and Mrs. Pearl Short
of Franklin also survive.
