William Coffman
Franklin
William Adam "Willie" Coffman, 85, Franklin, died
Friday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion where
he had been a patient for eight months. He had been in failing
health for one year.
Born Feb. 15, 1897, in Nineveh, he was the son of Young
and Elizabeth (Goetz) Coffman. He married Ruby Bush June
16, 1923. She survives.
Mr. Coffman retired 18 years ago. He was an automobile
mechanic and had owned and operated Coffman Auto Parts
for 35 years.
He graduated from Nineveh High School and was a
member of the former Nineveh Methodist Church, Nineveh
Masonic Lodge 317 and Nineveh Order of the Eastern Star
466. He was also a member of the American Legion and
Veterans of Foreign Wars in Franklin and the World War I
Veterans Association of Fort Myers, Fla. He was a World
War I Marine veteran.
The Rev. Cecil Parkhurst will conduct a service at 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Military
grave side rites will be conducted by the Fort Benjamin Harrison
honor guard in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 tonight
by the Nineveh Masonic Lodge.
Other survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Ed (Montrew)
Gross, Franklin route five; a sister, Eva Dunham, Indianapolis,
and a grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and seven
sisters.
