WILLIAM M. "Doc" DOWNS
      Services for William Martin "Doc" Downs, 69, Indianapolis were held
Wednesday, December 29, at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel in
Indianapolis.
      Downs, a former resident of Edinburgh, died Sunday, December 26, at
Community Hospital in Indianapolis.  He moved from Edinburgh in 1933 and
worked in the maintenance dept. of Dura-Containers Co. for 26 years,
retiring in 1977.
      He was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church and Veritas Masonic
Lodge.
      He is survived by his wife, Zelma Wardrup Downs.  Other survivors include
a son, Larry Downs, Atlanta, Georgia, and two grandchildren.  Two cousins,
Merle and Donald Ridpath of Edinburgh.
