Jessie L. Coy Hayes, 87,
of 1209 California died at 5
a.m. today at the Columbus
Convalescent center. She
had been in failing health
one year.
Funeral services will
be conducted at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday at Reed funeral home
by the Rev. Larry Clinkenbeard.
Burial will be at Rest Haven
cemetery at Edinburg. Per-
sons may call at the funeral
home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday
and until time for services
Saturday.
Mrs. Hayes was born
Sept. 26, 1886, in Johnson
county to Christipher and
Louisha Swift Coy. She was
preceded in death by her hus-
band, Jesse F. Hayes. A member
of the Edinburg Christian church,
she lived in Edinburg several
years and lived in Columbus
25 years.
Survivors include a
stepson, Ralph E. Hayes of
Lakewood, Calif.; a brother
William Coy of Edinburg; a
sister, Mrs. Iva M. Wray of
924 1/2 Seventh; several
nieces and nephews including
Mrs. Elmer Ogilive of 924
Seventh and Doris Morris of
3447 Sycamore Drive, and five
grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by a daughter, Mary
Waggoner, and two sisters,
Carrie Repp and Darcie Coy.
