JAMES M. HEFLIN

      James M. Heflin, 86, Edinburgh, 
died Sunday at W. S. Major Hospital, 
Shelbyville.
      Funeral services will be today 
at 2 p.m. at Eskew Funeral Home with 
Rev. Jerry Hyde officiating.  Burial 
will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
      Mr. Heflin was born March 9, 
1897 in Bartholomew County to Frank 
and Maude (Perry) Heflin.  He married 
Lucile Draper June 9, 1918 in Decatur, 
Ala.  She survives.
      He farmed and operated a saw-
mill at Edinburgh route one for several 
years.  Mr. Heflin was a member of the 
Christian Church in Hartselle, Ala. 
where he lived as a child.  He also 
belonged to Edinburgh American Legion 
Post 233 and was a World War I veteran.
      Survivors include one son, Law-
rence Heflin, Edinburgh route one; 
one daughter, Catherine Heflin of 
Arlington, Va.; three grandchildren 
and a great-granddaughter.
