Jeannette Swing

Amateur Journalist in Dayton Kentucky

 

 

Jeannette Swing was born in 15 December 1866 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Albert James Swing and Mary Ann Norris. Albert and Mary were married 1 May 1851 in Cincinnati. The family moved to Newport by 1877 where her father was an artist. She was listed in the 1890 Dayton directory as a teacher living with her parents at Fairfield and McKinney. Her brother David was a music teacher.

Jeannette married Robert Lewis and died 13 Mar 1942 in Cincinnati.  She was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Jeannette was also an amateur journalist and was listed with the Amateur Journalist Association in Louisville.  She contributed articles to the Corncracker Journal from 1886 through 1888 which was owned by W George Wilson.

Mrs. Jeanette Swing Lewis, 73, former Dayton Ky school teacher and retired arts teacher in the Cincinnati schools died late Friday at the home of a sister, Mrs. Zella Young, Cincinnati. Mrs. Lewis was a teacher in the Dayton schools more than 40 years ago. She leaves a nephew, Swing Martin, Dayton banker and chairman of the Campbell County Courthouse Commission, her sister and two brothers, David, Phoenix, Arizona. and Alfred, Newark New Jersey.
