   Thomas G McCreary, born in __ 1822 in Bottetourt County Virginia.  He was one of five sons and three daughters born of John & Nancy (Combs) McCreary.  John McCreary was born in Ireland, Nancy Combs in Bottetourt County, Virginia.  John McCreary was a carpenter by trade.  About 1831 he immigrated to Montgomery County, Indiana where he entered 550 acres of land, upon which he lived until 1839.

John McCreary was a son of James McCreary of Ireland, who immigrated to the United States in 1795 and settled in Bottetourt County, Virginia and remained there the remainder of his life.

    Thomas G. McCreary's mother was born in Germany in 1798 where she lived until she reached adult life, then immigrated to the United States and settled on a farm in VA.  At her death Thomas G McCreary immigrated to Monroe County Kentucky in 1851 where he engaged in the tanning business

    Thomas G McCreary married Fannie C Abshire who was also born and reared in Virginia.  They were the parents of three boys and one girl.  Mollie, Milton, John and Jacob McCreary.

    Mollie married A.H. Palmore, Milton, Emma Hamilton, John, Kate Leathers, Covington KY and Jacob, Emma Bowles.
