1929 MARRIAGES



LATHAN-HOLT

Mr. Rolla F. Latham and Miss Ruth Holt were quietly married 
at the Methodist parsonage in Bowling Green Thursday 
May 30 at one o'clock the Rev. Kasey officiating. The bride is 
the daughter of Mrs. Dora Hall formerly of this place. The bride 
was very charming in a navy blue georgette with accessories 
to match and carried a bouquet of bride's roses. The bridesmaid, 
Miss Donna Rorie wore green chiffon and carried a bouquet of 
sweet peas. The best man was Mr. Wilson Wood, cousin of the 
groom. Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Western 
Teachers college the bride having graduated only a few hours 
before the ceremony. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. 
T.E. Latham has been teaching in Knoxville, Tenn., but after 
June 7 they will be at their home at 5044 Montclair street, Detroit,

STEVENS-BROWN


Mr. Virgil Stevens, son of Mr. John Stevens and Miss Fannie Brown 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manoe Brown were married Wed. June 19 
at the home of Rev. W.M. Frisby who performed the ceremony. Both 
the bride and groom are highly esteemed and their many friends wish
them a happy voyage through life. A delightful wedding supper was 
served at the home of the grooms parents.  Twice-a-week

NICHOLS-HURST

Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Connaday have received the announcement of the 
marriage of John H. Nichols, who is a brother of Mrs. Connaday.
Mr. Nichols was married June 12 to Miss Nina Belt Hurst of Los. Angeles.
Mr. Nichols has been in Los Angeles for the past nine years where he has 
a remunerative position with the Southern Pacific Railway Company and Mrs.
Nichols is a teacher in the Los Angeles City schools.

Miss Mattye Lively and Earl Jennings of this place were married in

BAKER-YOUNG

Mr. I.L. Baker of this city and Miss Russell C. Young Of Terre Haute, Ind.
were united in marriage June 4 Rev. Mr. Launsburg a Methodist minister
performing the ceremony. Both the bride and groom were attending 
school at Bowling Green and surprised their family when they were married.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Baker who reside near Providence
and is one of the county's  most popular and industrious young men and
numbers his friends by his acquaintances. Since his marriage he has secured
a position in an automobile factory and we predict for him success. The bride 
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pinkney Young of Terre Haute and is a popular 
young lady. We join Mr. Baker's many Webster county friends in wishing him 
and his bride a happy voyage through life.

SIGLER-BOYD

Mr. Dewey H. Sigler and Miss Monville Boyd, prominent young people of this
city surprised their numerous Providence friends when they motored to
Evansville Saturday night and were united in marriage. The groom is a son
of Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Sigler and is one of the city's most popular young
business men being associated with his father in the Electric Shoe Shop on
North Broadway. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Finn Boyd and is 
one of the city's most popular and attractive young ladies. The happy couple 
will make their home in Providence, which will be good news to their numerous

HODGE-SHAFFER

Mr. C.E. Hodge of this city and Mrs. M. Shaffer were married at Infield, ILL. last 
week. Mr. Hodge is one of the county's most prominent and beloved citizens .
A dinner was spread at the home of Mr. and Mrs. K.N. Jennings on North 
Broadway Sunday in their Honor.

TOWNSEND-RANDALL

Mrs. Grace C. Townsend announces the marriage of her daughter, Thelma
Geraldine Townsend to J. Pittman Randall, Sunday July 14, 1929 at
Jeffersonville, Ind. Mr. Randall is a son of Mr. H.O. Randall of Lexington, 
Ky. The happy couple will make their home in Louisville where Mr. Randell 
holds a responsible position as chemist.

Carville Blackburn of Clay and Miss _odelia Watson of near Dixon were
married in Madisonville Monday, The groom is a prominent and well known
young business man and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Blackburn. The bride's
the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. F. Watson and is well known in

HARGAN-GIBLES

Elton Hargan and Miss Ruby Gibles of Evansville were issued a marriage
license at Dixon Friday and were united in marriage by Judge A.L. Hall.
