DOSTAL, AMOS ANTON [January 6, 1880 - February 5, 1951]
FUNERAL RITES FOR AMOS DOSTAL... AT TABOR CHURCH
    The residents of this community were shocked Monday by the announcement of the sudden death that evening of Mr. Amos Anton Dostal while about his duties at his farm home. He suffered a severe heart attack and quietly passed into the realms of the Hereafter at the age of 71 years and 27 days.
    The deceased, born January 6, 1880, spent all the years of his lifetime in this county as he was one of the thirteen children born to the late Mr. John and Mrs. Anna (Kovar) Dostal, pioneer residents in the Tabor vicinity.
    He came from a family whose members realized that in the rich soil of this section was to be found more gold than ever was dug from the fabulous gold mines of the universe. As the Dostal labored they prospered -- proving truth of their belief. In the early days there were no interfering wars and, though oftentimes the price for products was low, the virgin soil yielded bounteous crops with few exceptions and their faith in the land was upheld.
    It was on November 25, 1912, that Mr. Dostal and Miss Bessie Semerad were married at St. Wenceslaus church at Dodge by Rev. John S. Broz and they established their home in Maple Creek precinct a few miles southeast of St. Mary's church where he has resided ever since.
    Three children blessed their home, but a daughter died in infancy and the grief of their mother is shared by a daughter, Sophie, married to Roman Vavra of Clarkson, and Emil, who is at home. Mr. Dostal is also survived by two grandchildren, Janet and Duane Vavra.
    Of the thirteen children in the former Dostal family four passed away -- John B. Dostal, Adolph Dostal, (Bessie) Mrs. B.A. Pickhinke and Clara Dostal, and those who now mourn the passing of their brother are Joseph D., Frank J., Louis R., William J., James L., and Edward F., all of whom make their homes in this community; Anna, wife of Frank Hanzel of Dodge and Mary, who is married to Emil Steffel of Schuyler. The condolence of a host of friends goes out to the mourning family.
    Mr. Dostal was a man devoted to his family, true to his friends and considerate and upright in his dealings with his fellowmen. To honor his memory many were present at the funeral service this morning at 9:30 at the Prucha Funeral Home and were followed with a requiem mass conducted by Rev. A. Tuma at St. Mary's church of which he was a lifelong member.
    Flowers and spiritual bouquets expressed the loyalty of relatives and friends and many of the floral tributes cover the tomb in the cemetery adjoining the church to which the remains were carried by six nephews of the departed -- Longin Steffel, Clarence Pickhinke, Elmer Dostal, Adolph Brichacek and Louis and Edward Semerad. All that was mortal of Mr. Dostal was laid to rest amid the prayers and all present led by Rev. Tuma.
    His soul is at peace.
