PAVEL, JOSEPH
JOSEPH PAVEL RITES SATURDAY
    Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home, Clarkson, for a Clearwater man, Joseph Pavel, 79, who died Wednesday night at the Veterans hospital in Grand Island, following a long illness.
    The Rev. Sid Raymond officiated and burial was in the Clarkson National Cemetery.
    VFW Post 6419 of Clarkson was in charge of military services. Pallbearers were Ray Havel, Alvin Havel, Robert Loseke, Raymond Poulas, Adolph Vitek, Sr. and Joe Lauda.
    Joseph Pavel, son of Joseph and Katherine Jonas Pavel was born on a farm southeast of Clarkson on Oct. 12, 1894. He received his education in the Colfax county rural schools, His family moved to Oklahoma in 1905, where they lived for five years. They then moved back to Nebraska and made their home in Howells and Clarkson.
    Mr. Pavel served in the U.S. Air Force during World War I. In 1940 he moved to San Diego, Calif., and resided there until 1970. Because of failing health, he returned to Nebraska and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. James Havel at Clearwater.
    He became seriously ill in October, 1973 and was taken to the Grand Island Veterans hospital, where he died Nov. 21 at the age of 79 years, one month and nine days.
    Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Rose Havel of Clearwater, Mrs. Emil (Anna) Poulas of Ewing, Mrs. A.E. Bartak, also of Ewing, Mrs. Edward Lueke of Schuyler, and Mrs. Emerson (Libbie) Loseke of Chambers; and three brothers, Edward of Ewing, John and Louis of Clearwater.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Adolph and Ben.

L. SCHELLPEPER RITES AT STANTON
    Lawrence Schellpeper, 83, of Stanton died Tuesday morning at the Stanton Nursing Home. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, in St. Johnıs Lutheran Church in Stanton by the Rev. James Humann. Burial was in the Stanton cemetery.
