I am searching for information on JOHN BRIGGS HIXSON who was born 1822 in Ohio.

I recently aquired an old kentucky rifle with J B Hixson signed on the barrel and found "J B HIXSON" as being listed as a gunsmith in Atrim, Guernsey County, Ohio circa 1859. Futher research online, and I matched JOHN BRIGGS HIXSON of Atrim, Guernsey County, Ohio. I'm looking for more information about him and his ancestors to write an article for the Kentucky Rifle Association newsletter which I am a member.

JOHN BRIGGS HIXSON b. 1822 in Ohio d. 1899 Spouse was Eleanor Cramer b. 1835 d. 1903 in Ohio - Married Oct. 24, 1844 (born 1835 and married 1844???)

His father was PETER HIXSON b.? d. 1835 Mother was Mary Bishop b. 1790 in PA

Grandfather was JAMES HIXSON b. 1754 Hunterdon Co., NJ, Amwell d. 1833 N Strabane Twp., Washington Co., PA GrandMother was ELIZABETH WAMBOCK b. 1754 or 1757 d. 1833 Married Dec. 7, 1779 in Hunterdon County, NJ

While searching for J B Hixson, it seems some Hixsons from NJ went to western Pa, then to Ohio. Other Hixsons went to VA and then to TN. Below are some other possible J B Hixson names. JOSEPH HIXSON is listed as a gunsmith in S. Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA 1816 - 1822 (could JB Hixson apprenticed under him?)
