James FINNERTY born 05 Dec 1829 in Ireland; served during Civil War "James Finnerty was commissioned and mustered in as 2nd lieutenant of Captain John B. Urmy's Company G, 3rd California Infantry, at Benicia Barracks, California, June 8, 1862. He was promoted to 1st lieutenant and transferred to Captain Josiah Hosmer's Company E, 3rd California Infantry, July 2, 1864. During his service in Utah Territory, he protected the overland mail route. First Lieutenant Finnerty was discharged at Camp Douglas, Utah Territory, due to the consolidation of his regiment into a battalion of infantry."; married Nettie Janet McGAVIN born ca 1851 in Scotland; died 24 Dec 1914; she first married James FINNERTY, second married William Gardner RANDOLPH born 1852 - died 1936. James and Nettie FINNERTY resided in Halleck, Elko County NV. James served as Justice for Town of Lamoille 19 Nov 1870; died 25 Jan 1875, in Lamoille from gunshot.

2. Katy [Mary, Mamie] FINNERTY, daughter, born 25 Nov 1870 in Elko, Elko County NV; married 12 Nov 1890 in Elko, NV, to Philip Sheridan WITCHER (Feb 1865 - 19 Jun 1945); died 12 Mar 1960.

Philip and Katy had at least two children:
2-1. Raymond Sheridan WITCHER, son, born 26 Oct 1891 in Halleck, Elko County NV; married 08 Jun 1913 in Ely, White Pine County NV to Violet Virginia CLARK; married 2nd to Anna Gertrude GAULT; married 3rd to Lila Catherine HARPER; died 26 Aug 1950 in San Diego County CA.

Raymond and Violet had at least one child:
2-1-1. Sherry Virginia WITCHER born 04 Aug 1914 in Salt Lake County UT; died 20 Oct 1986 in San Francisco CA.

2-2. Margaret WITCHER, daughter, born 12 Dec 1893 in Utah; died 31 Mar 1901 in Salt Lake City Utah [father Philip, mother Mamie].

3. Belle FINNERTY, daughter, born 1872 in Elko County NV
4. Mary H. (Helen or Honoria) FINNERTY, daughter, born 1874 in Elko County NV
5. Nellie FINNERTY, daughter, born 1876 in Halleck, Elko County NV
