Lt. Col. Billy H. Bunting (Ret)
(May 27, 1923 - October 21, 2008) As he requested Lt. Col. Bunting was cremated and no service are planned. Lt. Colonel Billy H. Bunting, 85, passed away at his home in Denison. He was born to Hugh and Sarah Irene Marlow Bunting in Liberal, Kansas. He graduated from Liberal High School with a football scholarship to Texoma College. He volunteered for the Air Cadets and received his wings from Douglas, Arizona. He joined the Army Air corps and flew 40 combat missions in the Burman/China area. He left the service and was recalled to the U.S.A.F. to serve in Korea where he flew 100 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying cross. He was stationed at Clark AFB, Philippines where he flew numerous courier missions to and from Vietnam. He retired as a Lt. Col. after serving 27 years as an aviator in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked for the FAA in New York City as the assistant principal for American to the SPCA of Texas, 8520 FM 720, McKinney, Texas 75070. Surviving are his wife Sara Kilgore Bunting, whom he married March 14, 1970 in Stanford, Connecticut; his three sons Billy Lynn Bunting of Atlanta, Georgia; Theodore Elliot Bunting of Denison and Robert Hugh Bunting of Shalimar, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Sister-in-law Marguerite Bunting; Niece Michelle Benedict of Albuquerque, New Mexico and nephew Harry Bunting of San Jose, California. He was preceded in death by his brother Harry Bunting.
