He was first wounded at
Anzio and recovered. For that and his
death he had two Purple Heart medals.
According to his military notes,
(FamilySearch) hospitalization record-
It states he was brought in in Jan 1945.
(field hospital) He was moved on to a
convalescent hospital.
Diagnoses- wounds, lacerated with artery
involvement . It was in his brain. His
injury is state as a Battle Casualty.
They removed all foreign matter, but it
was clear he had a compound fracture of
the skull with brain fatal damage.

Denison. --Cpl
L Angel, Denison serviceman who died in
France on Jan 1,1945, is being returned
from the US Cemetery in Epinal, France,
Friday for reburial at Oakwood Cemetery
.
Services will
be at 2:30 PM Sunday at the Denison
Funeral Chapel. The Rev W.O. Bucy,
pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, will
officiate. The American Legion and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in
charge of Military Services.
Born in
Sherman, Dec 19, 1923, Cpl Angel
attended Denison High School before
entering in the service in June, 1943.
He served with Co F, 157th Infantry,
45th Division. He was first wounded at
Anzio Beach, Italy. Returning to his
Division in France, he died of wounds
received in Battle. He was awarded two
Purple Hearts.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs Ruby
Angel, 420 West Texas: three brothers,
Charlie Hendrix of Paris, J W Hendrix of
Boston, and LeRoy Angel of Houston: and
a sister, Mrs Edna Wilmoth of Backread
Beach, Va.
