PFC. Willie Burl Barbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Barbee of Van Alstyne route 1, has  been awarded the purple heart and wears the companion bars of Africa, Sicily and Italy. His parents have received a letter of commendation from the Hon. Sam Rayburn, also from the adjutant general's office, notifying them of their son's release from the hospital. He has seen nine months of combat duty and was wounded Oct. 16 in Italy.






He served in Europe, Africa and Sicily. He was injured several times.
