WORLD WAR II
Floyd ZENO Dillon

SSGT -KILLED OVER GERMANY
FLYING FORTRESS (B-17) TAIL GUNNER.

VAN ALSTYNE. - Sgt. Floyd Z. Dillon is reported missing somewhere over Germany since Sept. 8, according to word received from the war department by his family.
A tail gunner, Sergeant Dillon is the son of Mr. and  Mrs. J. C. Dillon. His wife, the former Jeane Crook, makes her home here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Less Crook.
Sergeant Dillon is 21-years-old and graduated from Van Alstyne high school in 1943. He was a three-year letter man on the football team and a star basketball player. He enlisted October 29, 1943, spending last Thanksgiving at home. He landed in England March 10, 1944.
Mr. and Mrs. Dillon received a letter from him written some time in August saying he had 35 missions to his credit and he hoped to be home in two months. His thoughts were of his young brother, Dickie. He wrote about the hardships of the  English children and how glad he was that Dickie didn't have to go through with all that. He added: "Tell Dickie to go to school and make good grades, for half of the kids over here don't even know what inside of a school looks like."
He closed his letter by saying, "Be seeing you soon. Keep praying and I will do the same until this all ends."
