His plane went down, this is the only one of the Torpedo planes
to survive that Battle from the USS Hornet.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram 18 Jul 1943 Correction needed in article  -he graduated Whitesboro High School He was in the US Army Jan 1937 - Sep 1939 Then he was in the Navy starting Oct 1939 till his death. He also served on the USS Altair (AD-11) before the USS Hornet. The 'AD" was designation for a Destroyer Tender.
