His body was shipped out on the USS Wheaton, from Cherbourg, Frances and arrived at Hoboken, NJ in 1921. They buried soldiers in temporary graves until the war was over and they were able to prepare them for the trip. He served in world war I, in the army and died of wounds.

He is buried in West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, Grayson County.
