He was drafted 2 May 1943 His draft card has the wrong birth date. ENTERED MILITARY IN SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA Service number 39838338  Headstone application His Father was William Lane Harvey Lane's body arrived on the Army Transport "Carroll Victory" in New York harbor. July 1948 There were 4,842 bodies aboard. They had been removed from the temporary cemeteries and it took several years to get them all home again, as requested by the family.
