His mother was Pearl Bonds Matthews of Sherman. His father Amos Nathan Matthews.
His wife was Lucille Rogers Matthews (Locile) and they had a daughter, Lysbeth L. Who was born and died in 1941.  He was married in 1934
His family  is buried in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.

They lived in Sherman.


1930 Census

They were still living on Throckmorton St in Sherman.

1940 Census
Lived in Abilene, Taylor, Texas.
He was listed as a traveling salesman and had more than 5 yrs of college. They had lived in Rural Denton Co. in 1935.

He is included in this article. There were many ships of bodies coming in, but I find it strange he didn't come from New York docks instead of San Francisco from Europe.

 He would have been buried in Germany and after the war in 1948
brought home to Sherman and buried in
WEST HILL
The design stands for mechanized units, showing an early tank design.

Because his family did not send for a military tombstone, we have no record of his unit and
I cannot find another article about him.
If you have more information, please advise.
The time period in March 1945 puts a lot of Armored divisions
around Belgium and Germany and it was the huge push to take the Germans.
