This is a photo of the Omaha Beach Landing about the time of his death
The first wave of landing crafts were with soldiers and following them taking
the beach, the landing of tanks, jeeps, food supplies and other machinery was underway.
They were under fire the whole time.
Each one is a has its own numbers and he was on several different ones.

I found he is listed in the records of the Roll of Honour Landing Craft deaths in Normandy.
It is a little difficult to use but at the bottom of the page you want page 35. (but it is easier to just put his last name in "Find on page" and it will go right to it.)

They list several numbers for him.  Most of the dead were on just one landing craft but he was on several, likely he was moving back and forth operating on several. With the numbers you can do research on Omaha Beach and put his story together. He was killed in action.
That website tells about the book/author who collected the information for his book and luckily he has shared it.
