His division in France.
In Nov of 1944, they were in combat in the Lorraine region of France.
Especially around the town of Metz and the Siegfried Line as they headed into Germany.
They were part of George Patton's army.
They did not tell families exactly where someone was killed or injured. Just the country and even that might be changed
so the enemy not know how far they had advanced.

Ancestry had the WWII
Hospital Admission card.
(It would be made out by medical corp or personnel in charge of  clearing people from the battlefields.)

It states his unit and states he was hit in the head with an artillery shell and killed.
His body was returned to the US and buried 30 Sep 1948.
All soldiers who were returned have death certificates,
That NY 014 reflects his body entered on a ship at NY
