I have included him as he lived in Dexter at the start of the war, see his registration card on this page. Dexter is just over the line to Grayson County.  His wife was in Whitesboro at the time of his death.

Born in Oklahoma, 22 Dec 1918-17 Jun 1945.
His wife was Sylvia Serena Edington
She remarried later. She is in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville also.
Their children seem to be adopted by her second husband.

He had two brothers also in the war;
Hulen who was in the Navy and R L.
who was in Army also.

1930 Census. He lived in Dexter, Parents; George W and Mintie Tramell.

Ancestry.com has a little bit of information made out by Medics who identified and made out the death info after the battle. Just quick assessments; he was hit by an artillery shell and died of head damage.

Buried in:

Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, Cooke Co, Texas
He first would have been buried in a temporary grave on the island. Then later moved another time to a larger area and then in 1949 he was returned to the US.
His final marker order & Buried in Fairview.

This is his WWII Registration Card.
He was living in Dexter in Cooke Co. which is very close to the Grayson Co Line.
His parents lived in Gainesville where he is eventually buried.
PVT Tramell's wife at the time of his death was living in Whitesboro in Grayson County.


The Battle of Okinawa was unique in many ways.
PVT T J Tramell lived through most of that Battle having died 17 Jun 1945.
