 Maud Morton Brown

Maud Willie Morton was born January 20, 1896 at Hagerman, Texas. She was the daughter of Gilford William "Doug" Morton and Mary Ann Bettis. As a child, Maud attended school in the Hagerman area. 

On August 26, 1913, Maud married William Franklin Brown at Gainesville, Cooke Co., Texas. William Brown was born November 17, 1888 in Georgia. He died May 4, 1935 in Grayson County, Texas and was buried in Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, Texas.

Maud and William had six children before he died in 1935. The children were Hubert, Bernice, Virgil, Gene, Christine, and Choyce. After William's death, Maud raised the children alone. She worked in the cafeteria of the Willow Springs School for many years and was a member of the Hagerman Baptist Church. After a two-year stay in Shady Oaks Nursing Home, she died at the home on June 22, 1980 in Sherman, Texas. Maud was buried in Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, Texas.
