Dr. John Orlando Scott was born on Saturday, June 10, 1837 in Frankfort, Franklin Co., Kentucky. ![]() Robert Wilmont Scott His father, Robert Wilmont Scott, was a farmer and fine live-stock breeder which included originating the breed of "improved Kentucky Sheep" and the establishment of the publication "Frankford Farmers."
Dr. John Scott was educated under B. B. Sayre, a distinguished educator of Kentucky and graduated from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky in 1856. He read medicine under his older brother, Dr. Preston Brown Scott and graduated from Louisville Medical University in 1861.

Due to pulmonary troubles, which were aggravated by the heavy climate of Kentucky, Dr. Scott and his family moved to Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas in 1875. Dr. Scott died March 8, 1904.
