Mr.
Webster
was born in Lowise C.,
Ohio, in 1833. His father was a pioneer of
that country, coming there
and
settling in 1820 from Conn., his native
home. Mr. Webster was raised on
a farm
as his father was engaged in farming and
also at his trade
blacksmithing. The
schools were very limited at this time in
Ohio, and Mr. Webster
received only a
good common school education.
At
the
commencing of the war [he
joined] the First Battery, Wisconsin, and
during the war was through
Arkansas,
Tennessee, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Mississippi,
Louisiana, and West
Virginia.
After the war he went to Milwaukee and
remained there until 1870, then
went to
Arkansas, Washington Co., remaining there 3
years, then to Denison July
14,
1873, finishing up in the newspaper
business. And edited the "New
South,"
running this paper until 1874. Since then he
has been in the Insurance
and R.E.
[Real Estate] business.
Studied
law
and was admitted at
LaCrosse, Wis., just before the war broke
out. Was in the lumber
business also
6 or 7 years before coming to Texas.

1865 at New Orleans
to Miss Moore, has 2 daughters.
