Clara Belle Williams Franklin 1856 - 1945 ![]() ![]() ![]() Only a few months before leaving town, Clara had managed to get her students settled into a church building that would double as a school for the next eight years. It was the new AME Quinn Chapel, purchased from the white Methodist church in December and subsequently moved to what was then the north end of Austin Avenue.
