Bass House

Dr. Randolph L.Bullock built his two-story home in Sherman the the late 1850s with lumber shipped from Jefferson, Texas.  Dr. Bullock was born in Sherlby County, Kentucky in 1818.  His family then moved to Missouri, then to Illinois.   In 1849 he moved to Bonham, Fannin County, Texas, to practice medicine.  He married Elizabeth McCrory whom he had met at a ball given for Robert E. Lee.  During the Civil War Dr Bullock served his country well. Dr. and Mrs. Bullock had six children.  After the family left the home, Dr. Bullock sold the home to the Gatewoods and then to Col. T.C. Bass.
