Mrs. Dan Schicke and son, Danny, visited relatives at Sabinal the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor spent Christmas day at Ganado with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Martin. Mrs. C. A. McFeron spent Christmas day at New Gulf with Mr. and Mrs. Covey Walker. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and son, Leslie, of Freeport were here Christmas to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash Lee, Mr. and Mrs. John Maynard spent several days the past week visiting her mother at Huntsville. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Farquhar of West Columbia visited Mrs. C. A. McFeron Sunday. We are sorry to report Mrs. Herbert Koch is ill and in the hospital in Cuero. We hope she will soon be well and home again. Cindy and Danny Hayes of Houston were here Tuesday to visit their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Hayes. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hollis and children of Friendswood visited Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hunt Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John Baldree and children of DeBerry were here to visit Mr. and Mrs. L. Harris the past week. Those visiting Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Harris the past week were Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Nuckels and children of Point Comfort and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dileo of Port Lavaca and Mr. and Mrs. Wright of Yorktown, also Miss Pat Underwood of Port Lavaca. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Littleton and children of Bay City, Mrs. Kilgore and daughter of Point Comfort visited Mr. and Mrs. Russell Revel the past week. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Little Miss Sharon Hunt celebrated her 10th birthday on Jan. 6 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hunt. Several of her classmates were there to help her celebrate her birthday. They were Pat Moody, Linda Duenow and Betty and Linda Karl, all of Lolita. Refreshments were served, all present reported a nice time. Mr. and Mrs. Donald DeAtley of Crane were here the past week to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. DeAtley. Jimmy Wimberly was rushed to the hospital at Ganado the past week and was reported to have been seriously ill. We understand he is improving now, we are glad to report. Mrs. Dave Bewley of Russelville, Ark. is visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker at this time, Reports from friends of Mrs. C. J. McClanaham, who is ill and in the Rugeley and Blasingame Hospital at Wharton, are that she is still seriously ill, we are sorry to report. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and son, Leslie, of Freeport, spent the weekend here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash Lee. Mrs. Wash Lee was to called, New Braunfels Wednesday to be at the bedside of her mother who is seriously ill in the hospital there. We hope for Mrs. Dodds an early recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bordosky and children of Point Comfort were dinner guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bordosky, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Whit Sappington and babies of Lolita visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor, Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Covey Walker and Mrs. Robert Lanfear and son, Larry of New Gulf and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Selby and Susie of Sinton were here the past weekend to visit. Mrs. C. A. McFeron. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Martin and Mrs. Anna Lancaster of Ganado spent Friday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Pryor. Mrs. Lila Honegger of Sabinal visited Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schicke and the George Burt home the past week, also the J. W. Burts of Louise were here Wednesday to visit the Burts and Schiecke’s. Mr. Dan Schicke and Danny and Mrs. Lila Honegger were in Houston over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bordosky were called to Dallas the past week by the death of her mother, Mrs. Terry. The Bordosky’s have the sympathy of everyone here in the loss of their mother. Mrs. Benny Lawrence and daughters of Inez visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Duffy here the past week. Mrs. C. W. McFeron and Mrs. O. Pruitt were in Wharton Thursday to visit Mrs. Ruth McFeron at the hospital there. A. J. Stayton is home from the Rugeley and Blasingame hospital at Wharton after under going surgery and is reported improving rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bordosky and children of Point Comfort visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bordosky Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McFeron and daughter, Mary, of New Gulf visited Mrs. C. A. McFeron Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ruth McFeron, formerly of La Ward, residing at Boling, underwent a surgery at the Caney Valley hospital at Wharton Thursday. We understand she is getting along well. We are glad to report. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Rainbolt and boys, Jerry and Terry, of Kingsville, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker. Mrs. C. A. McFeron spent Sunday at New Gulf with Mr. and Mrs. Covey Walker.

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hunt and children spent Sunday in Victoria visiting her mother, Mrs. Ricks. Wash Lee has returned from the hospital at Ganado very much improved. He was painfully injured the past week by a limb of a tree falling on him while driving a tractor here on the L. Ranch. Mrs. Earl Anderson and Mrs. Calvin Luedecke and son, Dennis, of Ganado visited Mrs. C. A. McFeron Thursday afternoon. Emmitt Bordosky is in the Ganado hospital at this time, we are sorry to report. We understand he is having trouble with his leg. We hope for him an early recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Whit Sappington and children of Lolita spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor. C. S. Compton of Lindrith, New Mexico has returned home after spending several days here with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. McFeron. Mrs. Bill Nelson and daughters of Houston, spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Harrell. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and son, Leslie, of Freeport, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Selby and Susan of Sinton, were here the past week to attend the 50th anniversary dinner of the Citizens State Bank at Ganado. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashley and children of Ganado have moved here and he has accepted a job as filling station operator at the LaWard Mercantile Company. We are glad to have them move to our town. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Wimberly were called to Yoakum the past week by the death of his mother. We extend sympathy to them. Mr. and Mrs. A J. Stayton, Jr. and children of Houston spent the past weekend with, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Stayton Sr. The Tri County singing convention will be held here at The LaWard Baptist Church Sunday, Apr. 20, at 2:30 p. m. We understand the Needville quartet will be here. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Main of Port Lavaca and Mr and Mrs. Harlees Hassett and daughter, Cindy, of Houston were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leeman Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bincans and baby of Wichita Falls visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kinsfather this weekend. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Pryor and sons of Bay City and Mr. and Mrs. Whit Sappington and babies of Lolita were here Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor. Mr. and Mrs. John Maynard with Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lumpkin and children of Palacios spent the past weekend in Huntsville with relatives. Young is a member of the Bay City School faculty. Chalmers Wren of College Station, student at A&M College was here the past weekend to visit Mr. and Mrs., N. L. Meyers. Hudson and children and Mrs. Lillie Koch and Mrs. John Maynard went to Houston Monday for a visit with relatives. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James Lee on the birth of a new baby boy. Grandpa “Wash” was really smiling. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Harris and children left Friday for a visit with her parents at Dublin. Mrs. Dan Schicke and son, Danny, were in Houston several days the past week. We are glad to report G. W. Burt improving since spending some time in the Ganado at hospital. Susan Selby returned to her home in Sinton Tuesday after visiting her grandparents here and at Ganado the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Waite of Palacios were here the past Tuesday to visit Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Harris Sr. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Gayle spent the past Sunday in San Antonio visiting her brother. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Wingate and children of Houston spent the past weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Walker. Everyone enjoyed the Tri-County singing here the past Sunday. A large crowd attended. Lee Dileo of Port Lavaca visited the Oscar Harris here Friday. Vernon Duffy of Beeville was operated on for appendicitis at the Ganado hospital several weeks ago and is doing fine, we are glad to report. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dossy of Houston were here Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor and Mrs. Arnold. Cindy and Danny Hayes of Houston were here Monday to visit their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Hayes.

Burt, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Burt, had his tonsils removed at the hospital at Ganado the past week and is doing fine, we are glad to report. This town was shocked and made sad Sunday by the sudden death of L. L. Harrell. He passed away at 12:30 Sunday. In the passing of Mr. Harrell, his family has lost a loving husband, father and grandfather. He possessed a kind disposition and always had a smile for everyone. His daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Terry and granddaughters, Mrs. Bill Nelson and children of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. James Grover of College Station and friend, Miss Sarah Jones of Louise, came Sunday to visit Mrs. L. L. Harrell. We extend our sympathy. Dr. and Mrs., J. E. Stevenson and children, formerly of De Ridder, La., visited Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Bordosky the past week. We understand Dr and Mrs. Stevenson are moving to Edna to make their home. A large number from here attended the funeral of Kenneth Green at Ganado Friday afternoon. Kenneth and Vicena had many friends here who will mourn his passing. Everyone here extends their sympathy to Vicena and children. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Selby and daughter, Susan, of Sinton, visited Mrs. C. A. McFeron the past weekend. Russell Revel and daughter, Bettye, Mrs. Arthur Kinsfather, Rev. Nagel White and family, Mrs. Sam Revel, Mrs. Carrie Lee, Mrs. Johnny B. Hudson and children, Dennis Vyvial, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Mangrum, all attended Pentecostal Camp meeting at Lufkin the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Littleton and daughters of Bay City visited the Russell Revels Friday night. Those visiting Mr. and Mrs. O L. McFeron, had the misfortune of getting bitten by a water moccasin the past week, but is doing fine, we are glad to report.

Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and boys of Freeport were here Sunday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash Lee. Alta Lyn, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hunt taken suddenly ill and was rushed to the hospital at Wharton the past week. We are glad to report her better at this time. Mr. and Mrs. George Slater and children of Houston spent several days here last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Duffy. Rev. and Mrs. Woodrow Yates of Ganado visited the Harris and Burt families here Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hudson of Houston spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Johnny B. Hudson. Tommy, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Boyd, underwent surgery at the Mauritz Memorial Hospital at Ganado the past week and was real sick for a few hours, but is better and is back at home, we are glad to report. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Pryor and boys of Bay City and Mr. and Mrs.. Whit Sappington and babies of Lolita spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor. Mrs. Ruth McFeron of Bolling spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Hunt are the proud parents of a baby girl born at a Wharton hospital past week. Sam Revel and son, Russell, and Joe Fuch left Thursday for Hummington, Indiana for a visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker spent the weekend at Kingsville with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Rainbolt and boys.

Miss Sybil Guthrie, county home demonstration agent, met Thursday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Oscar Harris for the purpose of organizing a home demonstration club. Nine ladies were present. After an interesting talk by Miss Guthrie, the ladies decided to meet again next Thursday, Oct. 23 and have time to get more ladies interested and at that time organize the club and elect officers. The meeting will be at 2 p. m. Those spending the weekend with Mrs. L. L. Harrell were, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Terry of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. James Grover of Austin. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Pryor and boys of Bay City were here Saturday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor. Rev. and Mrs. Nagal, White Pentecostal pastor here and Mrs. Russell Reve, Mrs. Arthur Kinsfather and Mrs. Ernest Mangrum all left Thursday for Indianapolis, Ind. to attend a Pentecostal convention in that city. Mrs. L. E. Nuckels and children of Point Comfort, visited Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Harris Wednesday. The many friends of Epp Pryor are glad to see him better and back from the El Campo hospital after suffering from an attack of pleurisy, the past week. Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Hamilton and children of Vanderbilt spent the past Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Baker, Mrs. C. A. McFeron spent the weekend in Sinton, with Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Selby and Susan.

Mrs. Lillie Koch was called to Damon the past week by the death of her brother, Arthur Manning, Mr. Manning was a former resident of La Ward and had many friends here who will mourn his passing. Mrs. Koch and Mrs. Johnny B. Hudson attended his funeral at Damon Wednesday. Rev. Johnny Hart of Brazoria, visited Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Hellums and children of Premont spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Trojack. Nancy and G. W. Burt were honored with a birthday party Thursday afternoon at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Burt The main feature of the party was the two birthday cakes baked by Mrs. Dan Schicke. Games were played. Birthday cake, nuts and candy and bubble gum were served to the following: Linda Harris, Jimmy and Martha Green, Richard & Kathleen Koch, Carolyn, Steve and David Gause, Dorothy Wimberly, John Deyton, Danny Schicke and Bobby and Linda Thedford of Lolita. All reported a delightful time. We are sorry to report Epp Pryor sick again. His children, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Pryor and boys, of Bay City, and Mrs. Whit Sappington and children of Lolita were here Sunday to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Epp Pryor. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and children of Freeport, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash Lee. Mrs. L. L. Harrell has returned from Houston where she visited relatives. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Hellums, of Premont, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Trojack. Mr. and Mrs. John Maynard spent the weekend in Palacios with Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lumpkin and children. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Moore, of Victoria visited the Harris families here Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Dan Schicke and son, Danny, spent the weekend in Houston. Covey Walker of Newgulf was here Thursday visiting with friends and relatives.
