Francisco Hernandez Ramirez Jr.

September 13, 1951 – July 27, 2023

Francisco “Frank” Hernandez Ramirez Jr., 71, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Mr. Ramirez was born on September 13, 1951 in Edna, TX to Francisco Ramirez Sr. and Juliana Hernandez.

Frank worked for many years at STP for Brown & Root, before becoming self employed as a concrete contractor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesse Ramirez; brother S.H. Ramirez Sr., and sister, Ysabel R. Bermea.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Ramirez; five sons, Frank Ramirez III (Melissa), Billy Joe Ramirez (Sandy), John Paul Ramirez, Mark Lee Ramirez (Carolyn) and Justin Ramirez (Krystin); step-daughter, Tracy Ramirez; sisters, Mamie Tijerina and Mary Zamora; brother, Manuel Ramirez; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, TX at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 with the Rev. Stephen Vacek officiating. Burial will be at American Cemetery in Edna, TX.

Ricky Molina Ramirez

February 7, 2000 - October 13, 2024

Ricky Molina Ramirez, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of 24. He was born in Victoria, Texas on February 7, 2000, to Gina Molina Ramirez and Ricky Gonzalez Ramirez.

Ricky was a very hard worker, always becoming friends with all coworkers. There was never a person that didn’t become family. Ricky loved to fish, kayak, going to war with his buddies on the ps5 and las pedas with friends and family. He was overjoyed to be a father and already loved “little bean” very much. Ricky was a beautiful, sweet person who would do anything he could for you. His beautiful smile, great sense of humor, playful ways and big, sweet hugs will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to be a part of his life here on earth.

Ricky is survived by Keyshia Callis and baby Ramirez, his mother Gina V Molina Ramirez and father Ricky G Ramirez, sisters Giselle M Deleon-Yendrey (Bradley Yendrey), Magaly Ramirez (Damian Diaz), brother Abdiel Max Vargas, nieces and nephews, Jaylen, Xaine, Izabella, Brantley, Anahi, and Jamesyn.

He is preceded in death by Grandfather Jesus Armando Molina, Brother-in-law Adrian Deleon, Tio Eduardo Molina.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Jalomo, Paul Cortez, Malik Robinson, Kobee Barnes, Bradley Yendrey, Damian Diaz, Justin Jalomo, and Nicholas Charles-Gomez (Chop)

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna. Interment to follow in the Latin American Cemetery in Edna. Pastor Andy Schroer will be officiating.

Wesley Ramirez

September 23, 1975 ~ November 22, 2024

Wesley Ramirez, 49, passed away on Friday November 22, 2024.  Wesley was born on September 23, 1975, to Joe and Susie Ramirez.  He is survived by his sisters Mary Wood (Buddy), Janie Ramirez, and Linda Davis and brothers Joe Ramirez (Letty), Pete Ramirez (Andrea), Mike Ramirez (Maria Gonzalez), Robert Ramirez (Jennifer Criddle), and Ricky Ramirez. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David Ramirez. A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 27, 2024, at 9:30am at St. Agnes Catholic Church with a rosary being recited at 10:00am.  A funeral mass will begin at 10:30am with Father Michael Petering officiating. Interment to follow at Edna Latin America Cemetery. Virginia Pena Ramos

August 1, 1957 - February 24, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginny” Peña Ramos, 67, who left this world on Monday, February 24, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born in Edna, Texas, on August 1, 1957, to the late Daniel and Aurora Doris Peña Sabedra. 

Virginia, lovingly known as “Ginny” to family and friends, was a kind-hearted and joyful soul, always sharing laughter and warmth with those around her. She was known for her unwavering support and the love she so freely gave. Whether through her work, her passions, or the simple joys of life, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impact as a source of strength and love.

She was a devoted mother to Tiffany Marroquin Robinson and her husband, Chedrick; Justin Marroquin; and Adrian Marroquin. She was also a beloved grandmother to Devin Dilworth, Haleigh Robinson, and Javen Marroquin. Her love for her family was boundless, and she brought happiness into the lives of everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Aurora Doris Peña Sabedra, and her sisters, Mary Louise Peña, Dolores Melody Sabedra, and Rosa Lydia Sabedra. 

Ginny is survived by her children, grandchildren, and her three sisters: Linda Stern (Marcus), Dana Sabedra, and Doris Castillo (Edward). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will continue to honor her memory by living their lives with the same love and generosity she embodied.

Ginny’s kindness knew no limits, she had a way of making people feel welcome, understood, and loved. Her laughter and smile were contagious, and her spirit was a source of comfort and joy to many. She was truly a remarkable woman. 

A service to celebrate Ginny’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel, with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ruben Castillo will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful life she lived.

Though she is no longer with us in person, Ginny’s legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished friend who will be deeply missed.

John Kenneth 'Ken' Rampmeier

A Memorial Mass for John Kenneth 'Ken' Rampmeier, 78, of High Point, North Carolina, was held April 7, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point.

Mr. Rampmeier was born Jan. 23, 1933 in the Deutschburg Community near Palacios, Tx. to the late Alvin and Rubye Rampmeier. He died April 4, 2011 at the High Point Hospice Home after a brave battle with cancer.

The first in his family to go to college, Ken earned his degree at Texas A&I-Kingsville, followed by service in the U.S. Army. He was then employed for 29 years by Union Carbide, first at Seadrift where he met his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Tasin Rampmeier. His career then took him to Texas City, West Virginia and Connecticut, before retiring to High Point where his love of golf led him to work at the local golf course for many years.

Ken was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn; brother Al of Bryan, Tx.; sisters, Norma and Janice of Palacios; son Keith of San Diego, CA; daughter Cara Dudley and husband David of Charlotte, NC, and grandchildren Christopher, Victoria, Kathryn and Matthew John Dudley.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church-Building Fund, 4145 Johnson St., High Point NC 27265 and the Hospice Home at High Point, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point NC 27262.

Richard Leroy Ramsey

October 25, 1937 - October 26, 2023

Richard Leroy Ramsey, 86, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, in Port Lavaca, Texas. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on October 25, 1937, to Clarence Hubert Ramsey and June Marie Ramsey (Smith) and was the youngest of seven children. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen (Powers), and siblings Juanita, Betty, Don, Chuck, and Wanda. He is survived by his daughters, Richla Kay Ramsey (Sanjay) of Redmond, Washington, and Jolinda Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Sonia Viola Kaur Sidhu and Maia Kaur Sidhu; sister, Leah Ramsey Malard; and so many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in Iowa, North Dakota, Illinois, and Texas that he loved dearly.

Richard made his way to South Texas as a young man by way of serving in the Air Force. After his service, he worked for ALCOA as an engineer for over 35 years. His career took him to Kingston, Jamaica, Palestine, Texas, San Paolo, Brazil, and Point Comfort, Texas. After retirement, he consulted for G & W Engineers, Inc. He was a loving father and Christian, who would always reach out to help others in need. His joys included reunions with his family up north, genealogy, woodworking, trips to Lake Tahoe, reffing basketball, reading, cheering on the Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns, and spoiling his dog Chloe. He will be remembered by his daughters by his radiant smile, quick wit, advice, stubbornness, laugh, best chili in the world, and above all, his love. 

A private graveside memorial will be held in coordination with Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, TX. A very special thank you to all who supported Richard at the DeTar Cancer Center in Victoria, Texas. The family asks that in remembrance of Richard, please consider donating blood/plasma to your local Blood Bank Organization.

Frances Rangel

January 12, 1965 - August 18, 2024

Frances Rangel, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 59. She was born in Edna, Texas on January 12, 1965, to the late Ignacio Rangel, Sr. and Lupe Figirova Rangel.

Frances worked as Assistant Store Director at Brookshire Brothers in Ganado for many years. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed. 

Frances is survived by her brothers, Ignacio Rangel, Jr. (Silvia) and Isidro Rangel; nieces, Devin Whittley and Heather Perez (Anthony); nephews, Heath Bednarz, Travis Rangel, Hondo Rangel, and Houston Rangel; Great-Nieces and Nephews, Kaleb Rangel, Karson Rangel, Austin Perez, Annleigh Perez, Harlie Bednarz, Lucas Bednarz, and Ava Tessier. She is also survived by her furry baby, Pistol.  

She is preceded in death by her parents Ignacio and Lupe Rangel, and her brother, Hilario Rangel. 

Pallbearers will be Heath Bednarz, Hondo Rangel, Houston Rangel, Joe Figirova, Anthony Perez, and Joe Garza.

Honorary Pallbearers are Travis Rangel, Kaleb Rangel, Karson Rangel, and Austin Perez.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. James Ray Raz

December 1, 1946 - December 12, 2025

James Ray Raz, 79, of Ganado, Texas, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 12, 2025. Preceded in death by his brother Richard Raz and Mom and Dad, Jim & Louise Raz.

James was known lovingly as Dad, Pops, Pawpaw, and Olo, and he lived his life with kindness, honesty, and a steady devotion to those he loved. He believed in showing up, and he did so faithfully, offering quiet support, encouragement, and pride in the people around him.

He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and found true joy in being part of their lives. From football Friday nights to dance recitals and band marching competitions, James was a constant presence in the stands, always cheering them on with a smile. He treasured the everyday moments as much as the big ones, creating memories filled with laughter, encouragement, and love.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling, and he valued good company and simple pleasures. He also cherished time spent visiting family and gathering together whenever possible. One of his favorite sayings, “There’s nothing finer than an ice-cold Shiner,” reflected his easygoing nature and appreciation for life’s small joys.

He is survived by his sons, Jim “Bo” Raz (Perri), and James Raz Jr (Julie). Grandchildren, Wesley Demicelli, Sara Demicelli Adams, Briana Raz Vanderbilt, Maddie Raz, and Kyle Raz. Great grandchildren, Ella Vanderbilt and Dani & Karlee Demicelli.

James will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his dependability, and the love he showed through his actions. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2025, at 11:00am at First Methodist Church of Ganado with Pastor Paul Beard officiating.

Donations can be made in his name to Crown Hospice or First Methodist Church of Ganado.

Margaret Reckaway

February 28, 1935 ~ October 22, 2024

Margaret Catherine Reckaway, 89, of New Braunfels, formerly of Jackson County passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024. Margaret was born on February 28, 1935 to Ruth Hamman Goad and Clarence E. Goad in Rural Edna, Jackson County, Texas.  Margaret married the love of her life,  Herman H. Reckaway in 1953, and together they raised their son Larry "Ricky" Reckaway, and they resided in New Braunfels for 50+ years. 

Margaret was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in New Braunfels, where she was known for her famous chocolate cake and her willingness and kind spirit for serving her church as well as her community.  She worked as a hairstylist until her early 70's, when she retired to take care of her husband until his death.  Margaret has been preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth Goad, husband Herman H. Reckaway, son Larry "Ricky" Reckaway (passed away on May 19, 2024) sisters: Evelyn Quinn Sowders, Infant Sister; Marie Goad, brothers; Jerry W. Quinn, Infant Brother; Weldon L Quinn, Jr.  She is survived by her brother; Charles "Ed" Goad, sister; Brenda Quinn Koop.

Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:00 am with Pastor Andy Schroer officiating.

RIP Margaret, your legacy will live in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Eastside Baptist Church in New Braunfels.

Adela Rodriguez Register

Adela Rodriguez Register passed away on July 11, 2023, at the age of 93. She was living in Woodstock, Georgia, with her daughter Alicia and Eddie Mecum, her husband.

Adela graduated from Edna High School in 1947.

She was preceded in death by her parents Manuela and Augustin Rodriguez, her husband Alton Register, her daughter Vanessa, brothers Chico and Vicente, and sisters Rafaela, Patricia, and Theresa.

She is survived by her daughter Alicia and her son-in-law Eddie, granddaughter Aubrey, grandson Nicholas, great grandson Brayden, her brother Victor and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna, Tx. Burial and graveside services are still pending.

Linda Rehak

January 26, 1952 ~ November 20, 2024

Linda Ann Hamilton Rehak passed away following a short illness on November 20, 2024, at the age of 72.  She was born on January 26, 1952, in Ganado, Texas to Henry Judson and Mary Gene Leslie Hamilton.  Linda graduated from Edna High School, Class of 1971.  She met and soon married her sweetheart Robert Rehak.  Robert, Linda, and their “critters” spent many happy years together until his passing on January 12, 2009.  Linda was a dedicated and hard-working employee at Gary’s Drive In in Edna for 25 plus years. 

In her spare time, she enjoyed woodworking with her sister, Leslie, fishing with her family, and baseball.  She especially enjoyed coaching girls softball teams.  She loved cats!  She had great memories of all of her “fur babies” from the past.  Her last two, Oscar and June Bug, gave her many hours of fun and entertainment.  Linda was a sweet, plain, and very simple lady.  Her wardrobe mainly consisted of jeans and casual cat T-Shirts.  She told her family long ago that was also what she wanted to wear to heaven, and her request has been fulfilled!  She went on to say that it would be great if all who came to her service wore comfortable, casual cat t-shirts.

Linda is survived by her sisters Cathy Davis and Leslie Hamilton, and sister-in-law Sharon Hamilton Voitek and husband Dennis; nieces and nephews, Gretchen Pyle and husband John, John and wife Cynthia Davis, Will Davis and Jason and Bonnie Hamilton.  Also, a host of friends and extended family.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Memory Gardens of Edna with Mr. Joe McClanahan officiating.  Serving as pallbearers are Will Davis, John Davis, Jason Hamilton, Darren Foster, Kenny Moore, and Oscar Hinojosa.  Honorary pallbearer will be Gretchen Pyle.  Memorial gifts may be given to the charity of your choice.

Charlene Newport Revel

January 6, 1933 - July 29, 2023

Charlene Newport Revel was born in Lolita, Texas on January 6, 1933, to the late Orville Mike Newport and Renie Meador Newport Denard.

Charlene retired as Assistant Vice President of Citizens State Bank after 33 years. She served on the board of directors and as an Ambassador for the Jackson Co. Chamber of Commerce. She was also a past director of the Jackson County Hospital Board, and served as president of the ladies auxiliary to the V.F.W. Post 8556 in Lolita. She was a long-time member of American Legion in Ganado, and of the First Baptist Church of Edna. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Ray Revel (Patricia); two very special grandsons, Jason M. Revel and Cody D. Revel (Rachel); great-granddaughters, Kate and Kollins Revel. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Ray Revel, Jr.; great-grandson, Wyatt Ray Revel; and her sister, Nancy L. Tipton. 

Pallbearers will be Glenn Martin, Gary Martin, Craig Yearwood, Clint Yearwood, Laddie Ellis, and Kenneth Land. 

Services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Edna, Texas. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, Texas. Rev. Robert Krause will be officiating.

Dorothy Jean Rickaway

March 13, 1947 - March 21, 2025

Dorothy Jean Rickaway, of Edna, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born in Ganado, Texas, on March 13, 1947, to the late Joe and Virginia Ann Hessong Strelec.

Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend who will be missed dearly. Along with the love she had for her family she was a very hard worker, played games on her phone, enjoyed cross stitching, and crocheting. 

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Michele Williamson and her husband Hershal and Misty Hahn and her husband Dennis; her son, Sonny Hibbs and his wife Elly; grandchildren, Michal Hahn, Lynn Hibbs, Sean Hibbs, Cody Hibbs, Clay Stindt, Victoria Williamson, Dakota Williamson, Kassi Williamson and Danielle Langstaff; great-grandchildren, Kinley Hibbs, Grace Lynn Stindt, Titus Stindt, Oaklyn Hibbs, Brailynn Williamson, Adeline Williamson, Maisie Hadley, Cheyenne Gilbert-Gath, Xavier Hernandez, Louis King, Mathew King, Jasper King, Raven King, Star King, Carter DeVane, Niilah Arline, Tristan Arline, and Kane Love; along with many numerous nieces, nephews, and  lifelong friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Rickaway, parents, Joe and Virginia Anna Hessong Strelec, son, Joe Alan Hibbs; sister, JoAnn Andel.

Pallbearers will be Sean Hibbs, Lynn Hibbs, Clay Stindt, Michael Hahn, Dakota Williamson, and Michael Andel. 

Services for Dorothy Jean Rickaway will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel, with the visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral at 3:00 p.m. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna. Pastor Harold Staples will be officiating.

Larry A. Rickaway

Larry Allen Rickaway, 56, of Victoria died Monday, Aug. 7, 1995.

He was born May 23, 1939, in Tivoli to Ruby Rickaway of Tivoli and the late Earl Lockhart Rickaway. He was a retired fast food manager. Mr. Rickaway was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors: wife, Dorothy Strelec Rickaway; daughters, Tammy Parker and Misty Rickaway, both of Victoria, Michele Palmer of Frankston and Melanie Posey of Edna; sons, Daryl Rickaway and Joe Rickaway, both of Victoria, Tommy King of Edna and Sonny Hibbs of Houston; sister, Earlene “Titter” Payne of Tivoli; and 20 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: daughter, Neoma Wood.

Visitation: 6 – 8 p. m. today, Colonial Funeral Home chapel.

Services: 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, at the funeral home chapel on Red River, with Wayne Dedear officiating.

Rose Marie Ricks

December 2, 1951 - June 4, 2023

Rose Marie Ricks, of Edna, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the age of 71.  She was born December 2, 1951, in Ganado, Texas, to the late Leonard Weinmann and Mary Marek Weinmann.
 
Rose worked for Edna ISD in the cafeteria. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ricks Gaubatz of Bloomington; sisters, Georgie Templin, Genevieve Yendrey, Patsy Franks, Dorothy Kollaja, and Betty Kildair; grandchildren, Savannah, Shawn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mary Weinmann; husband Forrest W Ricks, Jr.; brother, Michael Weinmann.

Arturo G. Riojas
September 26, 1948 – January 31, 2023

Arturo G. Riojas, 74, of Ganado passed away January 31, 2023. He was born September 26, 1948 in Ganado to Jose Riojas Sr. and Eustolia Garza Riojas. Arturo worked as a barber and had a love of playing bass guitar, going fishing and dancing. He was a member of Faith Family Church where he enjoyed the time he spent there as a greeter.

He is survived by his step-sons, David Davila, Gilbert Davila, Johnny Joe Davila; sisters, Anita Casas, Dora Medina, Mary Rodriguez, Jane Salinas; brothers, Robert Riojas, Raymond Riojas; long time companion, Josie Camarillo; loving dog, Peewee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe G. Riojas Jr.

Mike Riojas, Jr.

June 15, 1953 ~ September 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike “Jr.” Riojas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 72, in Victoria, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on June 15, 1953, in Ganado, Texas, Mike was the treasured son of Miguel and Lois Loa Riojas. He was a man whose warmth and humor left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike's life was filled with joy, laughter, and love, and his legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched.

Mike was preceded in death by several cherished family members who wait for him in eternal peace, including his brothers George and Juan Riojas, as well as his sisters Lupe Rodriguez, Gloria Garcia, Rosa Robles, Francis Zapata, and Molly Caballero. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who remain.

Mike is survived by siblings Fernando, Richard, and Leon Riojas, Mary Luera, Laura Estrada, Perline Riojas, Joanne Pena, and his loving wife of 52 years, Briceire “Chopper” Marroquin Riojas, whose partnership was a testament to love and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children Mark Riojas (wife Tammie), Jason Riojas (wife Ashley), grandchildren: Sydney Riojas Lindsey (husband Colton), Morgan Riojas Svatek (husband Chase), Logan Riojas, Brianna Riojas, Matthew Escamilla, and great grandchildren Saylor Riojas, and Myles Riojas. The bond they shared was a source of pride and joy for Mike, and he embraced each moment spent with them.

Throughout his life, Mike was a devoted member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he found community and connection in his faith. He retired from a fulfilling career in the oilfield, where his hardworking nature and loyalty were admired by many. Beyond his work, Mike found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time outdoors, dancing, listening to music, sharing jokes, and entertaining friends and family. He had a knack for gardening and was often seen enjoying a drink in the company of loved ones, observing the world with a curious and loving heart.

Mike's characteristics were a shining example of his character—humorous, loving, caring, honest, loyal, hardworking, and outspoken. He was never shy to express his thoughts or share a laugh, providing comfort and joy to those around him. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by all who knew him.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 9:30 A.M at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M., where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Mike’s extraordinary life and to honor his memory. 

As we bid farewell to Mike “Jr.” Riojas, let us remember the laughter, love, and light he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

February 20, 1941 ~ October 3, 2025

Anna Lorene Mikus Roades, 84 of Edna, Texas, passed away on October 3rd, 2025. She was born in Victoria, Texas on February 20, 1941, to the late Johnnie Mikus and Laura Franz Mikus Miller. Anna was married to David Gordon Roades from Ganado, Texas on November 10, 1962.

Anna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Anna upon high school graduation from Industrial ISD attended beauty college in Victoria and met Gordon. After their marriage, they moved to El Campo, Texas and 3 daughters were born. Gordon took a career change, and he and Anna moved to the Speaks and Cordele area. The twins were born making a family of 5 daughters. Rice Farming became their profession, and Anna was instrumental in the success of growing crops and family. Upon moving to their homestead in Edna, Texas, a baby boy was finally born. She successfully managed her family and enjoyed growing things, mowing, harvesting, sewing and many more talents. Baking and decorating creative birthday cakes was her specialty. She could also sew beautiful outfits for little girls to uniforms and prom dresses for teenagers. She attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Altar Guild and the annual Oyster Supper. Anna had a beautiful singing voice and a spirit of service.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Janssen (Brent Walker) of Edna, TX, Lana (William “Scooter”) Webel of Victoria, TX, La Wanda (Jim) McCormick of Victoria, TX, Vee (Nick) Strauss of La Ward, TX, Dee (James) Darilek of Edna, TX, and son, Oren (Stacie) Roades of Aubrey, TX. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth (Pat) Miori of Inez, TX and brother-in-law, RH Roades of Ganado, TX. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Erin (Derek) Zarosky, Haley (Justin) Willemin, Hayden (Morgan) Webel, Grady (Sarah) Atkinson, Lauren (Keith) Kieschnick, Katlyn (Eric) Berrettini, Nicholas (Kyla) Strauss, Staci (Karsen) Klimitchek, Carson (fiancé Kristin Dierlam) Darilek, Shane Darilek, Oliver Roades, Charlie Roades, Madyson (Levi) Moore, Will Croom, and Jack Croom. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents and husband; sister –in-laws, Shirley Mattocks and Peggy Roades; and great –grandson, Harrison Webel.

A visitation will be held on Sunday October 5, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Slavik Funeral Home chapel.  The funeral service will be on Monday October 6, 2025, at 10:00am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Inez with interment to follow at Hirschauser Cemetery.

David Gordon Roades

September 3, 1941 - July 28, 2024

David Gordon Roades, 82 of Edna, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born in Louise, Texas on September 3, 1941, to the late Roy Hugh and Mary Emma Swan Roades.

Gordon was married to Anna Lorene Mikus from Inez, Texas on November 10, 1962.

Gordon was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He was a truck driver, rice farmer, and cattle rancher all his life and loved to tell stories with a laugh that was infectious. He had his hands full with the “girls and the boy” as farm hands but always managed to keep his cool and remain patient. He was also a member and past president of the Jackson County Youth Rodeo Association and a board of director of the Jackson County County Wide Drainage District.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Anna Roades; and daughters, Yvonne Janssen (Brent Walker) of Edna, TX, Lana (William “Scooter”) Webel of Victoria, TX, La Wanda (Jim) McCormick of Victoria, TX, Vee (Nick) Strauss of La Ward, TX, and Dee (James) Darilek of Ganado, TX; and son, Oren (Stacie) Roades of Aubrey, TX. Peggy Roades

June 22, 1943 ~ January 6, 2025

Peggy Ann Webernick Roades of Ganado passed away on January 6th, 2024.

Peggy was born on June 22nd, 1943, to the late Johnnie Ray and Viola Galow Webernick.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 63 years R.H. Roades, Jr, their children; Barth (Bobette) Roades, Dorcas (Mark) Staff, grandchildren Caleb (Delaney) Staff and Nathan Staff; sister Doris (Lawrence) Girndt, brother David (Shirley) Webernick and sister-in-law Vernonica Webernick. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and brother Philip Webernick.

If you knew Peggy, she would tell you in uncertain terms with some color included, that you better not spend time mourning her death, but celebrating her past and upcoming spiritual life. And if she finds out that anyone said she was older than 29 years, she’ll send her angel to reprimand.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 250, Ganado, TX 77962, if so desired.

Graveside service will be held January 11th at 11:00 am at the Ganado City Cemetery. Lunch will be provided at 12:00 pm at the St. James Lutheran Church to tell stories and catch up with relatives and friends.

Corrine Robinson

Corrine Barnes Robinson, 87, passed away on June 22, 2023. She was born January 21, 1936, to Jim Barnes and Ora Gipson in the Vamp Garyville, TX Community. She was educated in the Garyville community and G.W. Carver Schools. Upon adulthood, she was employed as a caregiver for Emma Slavik for 45 years and also as a CNA at Twin Pines Nursing Home, where she retired. . Corrine loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Marilyn Barnes and Glenda R. Bailey; one son, Lester Robinson; faithful daughter-in-law, Flora Jean Robinson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Sheppard; brother-in-law W.G. Tones; special family friend, Eunice Jackson; 20 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Rodney Wayne Roberson

September 21, 1969 ~ October 31, 2024

Rodney Wayne Roberson, age 55, of Edna, Texas, a dedicated retired law enforcement officer and first responder, passed away on October 31, 2024.

He was born in Victoria, Texas in 1969 to Gilford and JoAnn Roberson, and was loved and respected by many dear friends and relatives. Rodney enjoyed the outdoors and graduated from Edna High School in 1988 and was already on active duty as a first responder in Jackson County at the time of his high school graduation.

Rodney became a first responder with the Edna Volunteer Fire Department while in high school, devoting himself to aiding others. He continued service for all of his adult life in Jackson County EMS and Fire Department, as a patrol officer for the Edna Police Department, as a patrol officer for the Ganado Police Department, as the Ganado Police Chief, and was also recognized by the Edna Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year. He served as president of the Edna Chamber of Commerce and also served on the Jackson County Hospital Board for 32 years, as well as the Red Cross Board. He enjoyed being an active officer in the Jackson County Republican Party and was a Past President of the Jackson County Law Enforcement Association. Though his life of service protected countless lives, he never sought or expected thanks for his work. Knowing he had helped others and served the people of Jackson County was thanks enough.

That selflessness extended to his personal life. Rodney was kind, caring, and generous, traits reflected both at home and when out in the field working as a law enforcement officer and first responder.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Gilford Roberson, and is survived by his mother JoAnn Roberson, his sister Shari (Roberson) Belmarez and her husband Brett, and his two nieces Addison and Emmerson, and one nephew Roberson Belmarez. Additional survivors include Gracie Moore, Gary (Alice) Nordin, David Nordin, Karla (Frankie) Alderete, and many cousins in and around Jackson County.

Honorary pallbearers include: Retired Texas Game Warden, Kevin Stancik and wife Renee Stancik, Jackson County Sheriff’s Dispatcher/Administrative Assistant; Jackson County Deputy Sheriff, Dwayne Taylor; Jackson County Sheriff, Kelly Janica; Jackson County Hospital District EMS/Paramedic Supervisor, Russell Johnson; Former Jackson County Constable, Oscar Hinojosa; Edna Chief of Police, Rick Boone; Darrell Slatter; and all current and former Brothers and Sisters in law enforcement as well as first responders.

A memorial/funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14 at 2 p.m., at Slavik Funeral Home at 209 North Allen, Edna, Texas. A reception will be held at Jackson County Services Building, (411 North Wells Street, Edna, Texas) following the memorial/funeral service immediately following the private burial service at the family cemetery. Joyce Faye Robinson

December 16, 1956 - July 28, 2025

Joyce Faye Robinson was born to Mrs. Maggie Stovall McGrew and Mr. Eugene Stovall on December 16, 1956.

Joyce was introduced to Christ at an early age and united with Scruggs Chapel United Methodist Church in Edna, Texas, where she was baptized. Joyce’s membership remained with Scruggs throughout her life, where she served as an active member of the children and youth ministries, various choirs, and the programs and fellowship ministries.

Joyce attended public schools in Edna, Texas, and later enrolled at Ranger Junior College in Ranger, Texas. After college, Joyce worked in various technical roles in both Oceanside, California, and Port Comfort, Texas. She gained the love and respect of many coworkers, especially during her final job, which she fondly enjoyed, at Love’s Truck Stop in Edna, Texas.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Chanda Robinson; son, Chedrick Robinson (Tiffany); and grandchildren Devin Dilworth, Haleigh Robinson, Kyleigh Robinson, DeRodrick Jones, De’Ontae Jones, De’Quare Brown, Azhane Brown, Amayah Robinson, and Chadsidy Robinson; and her great-granddaughter, Macaria Jones.

She is also survived by her sisters Lynda Jean Stovall-Washington (Wendel) of Fresno, Texas, and Mary Ann Stovall-Washington (Maurice) of San Antonio, Texas; her brother Lester McGrew of San Antonio; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Maggie and Clifton McGrew; her father, Eugene Stovall; sisters Vivian Bryant, Lois Roy, and Nellie Parks-Brazille; and her son Chadrick Robinson.

Alton A. "Red" Rodgers

HOUSTON - Alton A. (Red) Rodgers, 85, of Houston and Edna, went home with Jesus Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. Red was born in Pledger, Texas in 1926 and grew up in Morales and attended high school in Boling.
 
He served in the Army Air Corps in WW II as a pilot in training, bombardier and navigator in training. Red went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1949. He began his career with Humble Oil Company and retired with Esso Exploration (Exxon). Red and wife, Hope moved to Morales (Edna) Texas to retire and watch all their grandchildren enjoy life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with all of his friends and family.

Red was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; daughter, Nancy; his parents; and his second wife, Hope.

Red is survived by his children, Allison Madison, Alan Staton, Alton Rodgers Jr., Delbert Rodgers, and Naomi Collins; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Naomi (Namp) Baca and an uncountable number of nieces and nephews and cousins.

A visitation for Red will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stephen F. Austin Room at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating Reds life is Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Esther Flores Rodriguez, 59, of Ganado, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 23, 2025.

Esther was born to the late Cayetano and Victoria Flores, on November 20, 1966, in Refugio, Texas. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She loved crocheting beanies and blankets for her loved ones. She was a joyful person who loved family get togethers and she loved fishing or just being near the water.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Andy Flores Sr.

She is survived by her children Rachael (Reynaldo) Perez, Melissa Ramirez, Enrique Ramirez Jr.; her sisters Olivia Rios, and Mary (Carlos) Almeda; her brothers Frank Flores Sr., Raul (Dalmeta) Flores Sr.; her grandchildren Estevan Perez, Juliana Perez, Anna Sofia Perez.

Judy Lupe Estrello Rodriguez, 79, of Ganado, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025.

Judy was born on March 22, 1946, in Ganado, Texas, to Pilar and Rafael Estrello. She dedicated her life to education and service, spending many years as a teacher who believed deeply in the power of knowledge, advocacy, and opportunity. Judy was more than an educator. She was a mentor, an activist, and a tireless advocate for her community. She worked closely with families and local organizations to support children, promote educational access, and uplift those in need. Her compassion, strength, and commitment to justice left a lasting impact on generations of students and community members.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Pilar and Rafael Estrello.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Rodriguez; her children, Sheryl Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Joey Garcia; her sisters, Frances Coursey, Lisa Azios, Carmen Estrello, Patsy Zabrano, Gloria Estrello, and Antonia Carrera; her brother, Pete Estrello; her grandchildren, Allicia Ann Guerrero Mitchell, Ashley Guerrero, Abraham Guerrero IV, Alanna Rodriguez, and Jeremiah Rodriguez; and her five great-grandchildren, Christopher Holmes, Felicia Holmes, Mailani Mitchell, Katsumi Duarte, and Abraham Guerrero V.

Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez

January 13, 1940 ~ February 5, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, who peacefully entered the arms of the Lord on February 5, 2025, at the age of 85.

Maria “Lupe” was born in Ganado, Texas, January 13, 1940, to her late parents, Miguel Riojas and Lois Riojas. She worked at Ganado Care Inn nursing home for 18 years and later made her home in El Campo, Texas with her husband where she was a housekeeper for many years. She was a woman of prayer and faith, endless love and quiet strength. A devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a faithful servant of God her heart was always open, and her arms were always ready to embrace those she loved. Her faith guided her through life’s joys and challenges, and she lived as a true example of kindness, strength, and unwavering trust in God.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Roger Rodriguez, who stood by her side through life’s journey. Her greatest joy were her children: daughters Patricia Marroquin and Evon Hinojosa (Severo), sons Frank Morales Jr. (Terri), and Roger Rodriguez Jr, her sisters Mary Luera (Gilbert), Laura Estrada (Robert), Joann Pena and Perline Riojas, her brothers Mike Riojas Jr. (Briceire), Fred Riojas and Victor Riojas.

Her love extended through generations, blessing her with eight grandchildren: Cory Marroquin (Kelsey), Kimberly Marroquin, Dwayne Hinojosa (Pam), Macy Sanchez (Marty), Brandi Morales (Juan), Cody Morales (Karen), Olivia Morales and Adrian Rodriguez, and twelve great-grandchildren: Falynn Marroquin, Nolan Marroquin, Maeve Enriquez, Roland Enriquez, Ayden Enriquez, Katalena Morales, Angel Jr. Lopez, Zachary Hinojosa, Bowen Hinojosa, Raelynn Pena, Myleigh Sanchez and Myles Sanchez, each of whom she cherished with all her heart. She held a very special place in the lives of her siblings, extended family and friends who she loved very much.

Maria “Lupe” was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brothers Johnny Riojas and George Riojas, her sisters Gloria Garcia, Rosie Robles, Frances Solis, and Molly Caballero. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in knowing she is now reunited with them, surrounded by love and peace in eternity.

Her legacy is one of faith, love, and kindness. Whether it was through her gentle words or a home-cooked meal, she made sure everyone around her felt loved and cared for. Our family will forever be grateful for the love she poured into our lives. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to guide, comfort and watch over us.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, at Ganado Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 am, Rosary at 11:30 and Ruben Castillo sharing the Word and music as we come together to honor and celebrate Lupe’s life. Elvira Santellana Rosa, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 81.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Amy Bazan Rosales

July 3, 1968 - April 22, 2025

Amy Bazan Rosales, of Edna, Texas gained her angel wings on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 56. She was born on July 3, 1968, in El Campo, Texas, to the late Pablo and Amelia Garcia Bazan.

Amy was a dedicated homemaker, whose commitment to her family was akin to a full-time occupation. She was devoted to her husband and children, never missing any school event or function. Her life revolved around her children, and she cherished spending time with her family and friends. Amy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose presence will be profoundly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 35 plus years, Jose Rosales; son; Maximiliano Rosales; daughter, Savannah Rosales; sister, Diana Bazan; brothers, Benny Bazan and his wife Cindy, Bob Bazan, and Bobby Bazan and his wife Veronica; grandchildren, Landon Sanchez, Liliana Rosales, Santiago Rosales, and Elian Rosales; godchildren, Cory Bazan and Karissa Hernandez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, San Juanita Bazan; and her brother, Eloy Bazan.

Services for Amy will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel, with the visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., rosary to be recited at 2:30 p.m., and the Funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Michael Petering will be officiating.

Frances Castillo Rosales

August 4, 1934 ~ December 4, 2025

Frances Castillo Rosales, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and faithful servant of the Lord, entered into eternal rest in the comforting promise of her Savior at the age of 91 on December 4, 2025.  Frances was born in Flatonia, Texas on August 4, 1934, to Guadalupe Torres Rodriguez and Tomas Castillo.  Frances was preceded in death by her husband Benito Rosales; daughter Delia Rosales; and siblings Romana Reyes, Ignacio Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Ascension Morales, and Maria Gallargo.  She is survived by her sister, Marina Morse. Frances shared a special bond with her grandmother, Guadalupe Torres, who passed on September 18, 1972, and whose guidance and love shaped Frances throughout her life.  Frances's greatest joy was her family.  Frances is survived by her children Lupe Vasquez of Ganado, Texas, Santos Rosales and wife Betty Jean of Dallas, Texas, Dominga Zepeda and husband Bobby Zepeda of Needville, Texas, Flora Chytka and husband Jack Chytka of Victoria, Texas, Ofemia Slavik and husband Coy Slavik of Victoria, Texas, Frances Green and husband John Green of Inez, Texas, Jeanette Sooley of Houston, Texas, and Geraldine Edmundson and husband Neil Edmundson of Pinehurst, Texas.  Frances is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  Frances lived her life with humility, generosity and unwavering faith.  She believed in the power of prayer, trusted God's promises, and faced every hardship with quiet strength.  During her final days in the hospital and hospice care, she repeatedly sang "Jesus Loves Me" knowing she was soon to be with Him.  

As we mourn her passing, we take comfort in the words of Scripture:  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.  Frances is now at peace, embraced by her Heavenly Father, and resting in the glory of eternal life.

A funeral service will be held on Friday December 12, 2025, at 10:00am at Ganado Funeral Home chapel in Ganado, Texas. Interment will follow at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery 6921 SH-540 Loop Beasley, Texas 77417.

Jesus Rosalez

April 8, 1952 ~ February 17, 2024

Jesus “Jesse” Rosalez, 71 of Ganado went to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was born on April 8, 1952 to Domingo and Lionides Rosalez.

Jesse was the owner of J & S Oilfield Construction Services and worked in the oil and gas industry for over 50 years. He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #3204 in Ganado, serving as a 4th degree knight of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly 1131.

Jesse is survived by his son Joseph Rosalez and wife Amy, daughters, Jackie Fowler and husband Spence and Jessica Rosalez Fry. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua Fowler, Jayden, Jordan, Joseph Jr., and Jonathan Rosalez. Brothers, Ruben, Joe, and Steve Rosalez, and Sisters, Lydia Arriaga, Olga Lopez, Lucy Cardenas, and Delfina Rodriguez.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son in law Sam Fry, and brothers Samuel and Manuel Rosalez.

The family will receive visitors at 9:00am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with the Rosary recited at 9:30am. Funeral mass to follow at 10:00am with Father Greg Korenek Officiating. Burial to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made in Jesse’s honor to the Ganado Knights of Columbus Council #3204 or The Ganado Volunteer Fire Department.

Mark Larsen Rose

March 7, 1955 - February 27, 2026

Mark Larsen Rose, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1955, in Ganado, TX, to Elisha Thaddeus "Thad" Rose and Laura Larsen Rose.

He grew up in Edna, TX and graduated salutatorian from Edna High School in 1973. During high school, he was active in golf, band, drama club, Student Council, National Honor Society, Future Scientists of America, and the Future Teachers Association. He was also named to Outstanding Teenagers of America, Who’s Who in American High Schools, and the Society of Outstanding High School Students, and he was a member of the Thespian Society.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Texas in 1977 and received his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University in 1980, passing the State Bar of Texas later that year. After completing law school, he returned to Edna, TX to work alongside his father and brother at Rose Interest Land Management.

He and Lois McMahan Rose shared nearly 40 years together, beginning in 1986, and were married on November 18, 1994. Their marriage was marked by steady devotion, loyalty, and a deep commitment to one another. They shared a genuine and abiding love throughout their years together. He further strengthened their family by formally adopting Lois’s daughter, Stephanie Smith Ferguson. He was an extremely proud grandfather to Bennett Klein Ferguson and Leyton Rose Ferguson.

He was a generous and selfless man who consistently placed his family first. He had a warm personality, enjoyed bringing people together, and was always the life of the party.

Mark lived an exciting and full life. At age nine, he joined the Edna Country Club.  His father would drop him off for the day. He often spent his time playing on his own until, at about eleven years old, the older members invited him to join their group. He remained a member of the club throughout his life.

He was a man of many interests. Along with golf, he loved to water ski and snow ski, and he shared many funny stories about both over the years. In junior high, he began playing in local neighborhood poker games, an interest he carried throughout his life. He continued to enjoy the game for many years and participated in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for two decades.

He also enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was known for hosting Port Alto bay parties that are still being talked about today, and he loved sports, especially the Astros.

He was a lifetime member of Edna Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Rose; his daughter, Stephanie Ferguson (Lee); his grandchildren, Bennett Ferguson and Leyton Ferguson; his brother, Bowen David Rose; nephews, Larsen Rose and Bowen Rose (Fairleigh); and nieces, Brooke Rose and Rachel Turner (Barret).

Pallbearers are Lee Ferguson, Bennett Ferguson, Bowen Rose, Darrell McMahan, Brady Watson, and Shannon Watson.

George E. Rozner

BLESSING - George E. "Mr. Nice Guy" Rozner, 61, of Blessing, died Monday, July 13, 2009. He was born Aug. 7, 1947, in Yoakum, to the late Frank J. Rozner and Allyine Meyer Rozner.
 
He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, Fighter Squadron 111 on the U.S.S. Oriscany. He spent 18 years with Alcoa as an electrician. He was a maintenance supervisor at South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company in Wadsworth, where he worked for 23 years. He was a member of the KJT Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a former volunteer for the Kids for Christmas program and a former volunteer firefighter in Blessing. He was a member of the Valve Team at S.T.P. and a Catholic.

George was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved to joke and cut up with his family and friends and could always be counted on by everyone who knew him. His greatest pleasure was spending time and sharing his life with his family; Sunday dinners were a testament to the close bond he shared with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Anne Rozner and Dina Rozner of Needville; sons, Michael and wife Kimi Rozner of Midfield, and James Rozner of Bay City; former wife, Joyce Vyvial Rozner of Sweeny; five grandchildren, Jonathyn, Bradley, Ty, Colton, and Kyson; sister, Frances Vogt of Victoria; brothers, Ronnie and Robert Rozner of Ganado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Rozner; and brother-in-law, Herbie Vogt.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009, at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Lyons officiating. Full military burial will be at Assumption Catholic Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post 346 of Ganado.

Pallbearers are Tony Gronski, Sonny Supak, Tony Kacer, Brent Heraly, Richard Bures, Ricky Busha, Jacob Chambless, and Jimmy Supak.

Honorary pallbearers are Dameon Berg and Rob Yoxtheimer.

Vera Frances Rozsypal

Vera Frances Rozsypal, 83, of La Salle, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. Frances, "Babe" was born on January 30, 1929, in Rosenberg, TX, to the late R.J. and Lottie Stepan.

She married Victor Paul Rozsypal on November 14, 1951 and they shared forty-eight years of marriage before he passed away.

Frances enjoyed raising her two sons, Michael and Paul and spending time with her grandchildren. Frances was very active in the La Salle, TX, community and enjoyed her volunteer work at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. She had a love for fishing, dominoes, and poetry.

Frances is survived by her sons, Michael Rozsypal of San Antonio and Paul Rozsypal and wife Ellen of Victoria, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A public visitation/rosary will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 from 5 - 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Slavik Funeral Home, 209 N. Allen St. Edna.

Funeral services, will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in La Salle at 1:00 p.m. with Fa. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the St. Theresa Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her six grandchildren; Joshua Rozsypal, Rebecca Rozsypal, Kimberly Jones, Niki Rozsypal, Jacob Rozsypal, and Victoria Rozsypal.

Daresha Renee Rucker

July 2, 1977 - December 11, 2024

Daresha Renee Rucker, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 47. She was born in Ganado, Texas on July 2, 1977, to Stacy Ford and Flora Jones Rucker.

Daresha was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend and who will be dearly missed. 

Daresha’s legacy will  live on in the hearts and minds of her family: her mother, Flora (Louise) of Edna, Tx; her father, Stacy Ford of Yoakum, Tx; her children Shada Robinson, Malequee Rucker, and Denzil Rucker; her siblings Albert (Leanne), Percy (Debra), Ann (Paul), Kenneth, Kendra (Tyrol), Lovena (Devin), Darvis (Ashley), Sharlene, Alvin, Thyretha, Stephanie, Yeury, and Stacy; her uncles Gabe (Gail) and Virgil; her aunts, Madeline and Cynthia; as well as nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Ann Rucker; aunt Annie Lee Brooks and Uncle Willie; and grandmother, Flora Dilworth. 

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Reverend Gary L. Roberts will be officiating.
