Hello, friends, here I am again. Well, the snow has finally left us for a while, but oh—this rain! About all a person can do is play dominos. Everyone had a good time playing dominos at the Anders’ house Friday night. We are sorry to hear that Lenton Vibrock is on the sick list. Miss Dian Zetka of Edna had a birthday party at her grandmother’s, Mrs. Ray Anders of Texana, Sunday. She got lots of nice gifts. Miss Brenda Anders also had a party and lots of gifts. We sure hope the weatherman doesn’t get his dates mixed up with Christmas again. Well, no one went anywhere—all stayed at home--so there’s not much news this week.

Hi Friends, Well, it looks like we will have a little pretty weather now, Boy, will us farmers get behind with our maize. Well, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Young are finally grandparents. And congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Chester McHatton of Victoria. We know it rained a lot. Mrs. Wood said it rained 4 inches on their ranch. Well all of the Vibrocks are on their feet now. Please stay on them! Mr. and Mrs. W. Harvey of Texana spent the week in Blessing and West Texas. May the Lord be with you on your trip. Mr. and Mrs. Ray spent the day in Cordele in the wonderful home of Rube DeBord; their granddaughter has been very sick. May the Lord lay his hand on her. They say men can't cook in the home of Ray Anders. Mr. Homer Spree and Ray Anders did the cooking; their wives sat back and watched Homer make Candy and Ray made a cake. Boy what eats. Ladies, all you have to do is tell them they can't cook and they will or bust, ha! Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anders visited the Swan Crisp family; they drank coffee and watched TV. Dr. D. M. McCall's daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Elkins of Freeport spent the weekend with them. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Wood visited their son in Sinton over the weekend. Visiting on the Anders Ranch Thursday night were: Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Southers; Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Zetka; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Spree; and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Southers. We all played 42 and had donuts and coffee and a big supper. Everybody get your potatoes out while it is dry, ha! Well so long, see you again if the creek don't dry up.

Well, I know Mr. and Mrs. T. D Wilson of Texana are proud to know that their son, T. D. Wilson Jr. is out of the Air Force for good. They were stationed in Darmstadt, Germany. We hope he has better luck finding a job than most people have had. Well, it looks like the old flu bug finally hit me. I was flat on my back for a few days this week. While trying to fix a tractor, Ray Anders had the misfortune of splitting a thumbnail and mashing the rest of it. Boy, have you seen the dust fly this week. All the farmers must be trying to run a rail getting his field ready. Here's hoping we do not have anymore rain for awhile. Guests in the Victor Zetka home Saturday night were Mr. and Mrs. Weyman Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Southers and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anders. The occasion was a birthday supper for me. Hi friends and neighbors, here we go again. With all the buttercups blooming a body would think it was summer, but with the cold and high winds we think it is still winter. It seems like the little Crisp child just can't get over the colds and flu. Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Willson's son, T. D., is in from school in San Diego for the weekend. He still has four months to go, then 30 months around the world. Boy, what Uncle Sam will do for his boys. We know Mr. and Mrs. Willson were proud of this Easter, the first time in six years all the boys were together. Mrs. Ander's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Southers, from Edna, visited their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Claybrock in Corpus. They said you have never seen waves til you see those in Corpus: Mrs. Anders and Mrs. Harvey visited the S. Crisp family Friday. We are sorry to hear that David Anders broke a blood vessel in his knee that is one time he had to put his knee in a cast. Put your marbles up, David! Mr. and Mrs. Forest Yoa's son was in for the weekend. Ralph is in school. The Quinns from Refugio visited in the Letton Vibrock home over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Pahmiyer and son, Dalton, were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Anderson, and Easter Sunday little Dalton was christened at the First Methodist Church. Other guests seen in the Anderson home for a turkey dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pahmiyer, Charles Pahmiyer, Mrs. Bill Cline of Victoria and Billy Anderson. Mrs. L. C. Vibrock and Mrs. L D. Anderson went to Galveston to bring Louis Vibrock home from the hospital. He is much better.

Hi, Friends: Well, it looks like we have been having some damp weather here lately. Mrs. Rudy Valenta Jr. of Ganado visited Mrs. Weyman Harvey at our home in Texana Saturday afternoon. Weyman Harvey and “my old man” are plowing in a rice field in El Toro. Buddy visited in the home of Dennis Quarles Saturday. It seems that crawfish don’t get too big for those two. Well, it seems like jobs are still hard to find. We see that Billy Anderson is still at home. Don’t give up hope yet. Mrs. Swan Crisp visited me the other day. She said she thought Swan had the measles. It seems he didn’t as he was up and about the next day. Well David finally went back to school Tuesday. What a relief that he is going to be alright. Mrs. Paul Literal and baby daughter, Paula, and my daughter, Mrs. V. J. Zetka, visited me Monday. My daughter, Mrs. Weymen Harvey and myself went to El Campo Thursday. On the way back we stopped and spent the afternoon with Mrs. Rudy Valenta Jr. Well, maybe when all these measles and mumps clear up we will have some more news. So long for now. See you next week.

Well, here we are again. Boy, this weather sure is changeable. It changes so fast we don't know what to expect next. Dennis Quarles visited Buddy last week. They rode the horse and bike. Well, we never get too old to learn. I have been making yeast bread for twenty-five years and thought I knew every kind there was but at club the other day Mrs. L. D. Anderson gave a demonstration on cheese light bread. Boy, it was good. Well, it is nothing to hear the phone ring at 5:00 a. m. by the National Guard. Poor old Weymen hit the floor, jumped in his clothes, swallowed a couple of swallows of coffee and was gone. They had an alert that took them to El Campo. I bet Mr. and Mrs. Ted Young miss their grandchild. He is in Orlando, Florida with his mother and. Air Force father. Mrs. Paul Literal and Mrs. V. S. Zetka came out and they and Mrs. W. S. Harvey went dewberry picking. I think they found more snakes than berries. Of course, I had to stay home and baby sit. Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Zetka sure do have some pretty strawberries this year. They came out Saturday night and we made some fresh, strawberry ice cream. It sure was good.

Well, we haven't blown away yet: it sure looked bad, but we can all be thankful we haven't had those storms some poor counties have had. Well, I don't have any news this week, I am reporting from my bedside. We surely are glad Mrs. Harvey wasn't hurt bad. She and I were chasing a horse down the highway and the pickup started to roll; she ran to stop it but fell, and I ran to see if she was hurt and pulled a muscle in my hip. We want to thank the lady that helped us in the pickup, and also the men who pulled the pickup out. Mrs. Louis Zetka visited the Anders Ranch Tuesday to help snap beans. The Texana Club is glad to report it has two new members. It seems the "possums" are getting hungry; they are visiting the Bill Quarles' chicken house. Bill, get your gun! Thanks Billie Anderson for fixing our flat tire--we didn't have anymore. I am glad Mrs. L. C. Vibrock's poison ivy is better. Brenda Kay Anders spent the night with Miss Cathy Meredith Thursday. Well, everybody get your guns, there's nothing like a plate of young squirrels for dinner. Weyman said it was so dry in the rice field he wore a pair of shoes out. That is about as good as what Ray told the girls about the berries--said they were as big as a glass. Right now the weather still looks bad. Well, let me hear from all of you next time. So long.

Hi neighbors. Well it surely looks like good old summertime at last; but cool nights. Kathern and I spent the day with my mother, Mrs. W. A. Southers, in town. Herman, John, Pa and Guss Anders worked cattle on our ranch Monday. Well, I sure was feeling bad, but luck of all luck, who came out but Mrs. Quinton Thedford of Lolita and Mrs. Roey Thedford of Lolita, both old girl friends from way back. It sure did make me feel good; come again, girls. Mrs. Quinton Thedford is a teacher of Lolita, Well, we sure are glad to hear that the Texana Coffee Club went over big. Sorry I couldn't make it the ole' back said no. Mrs. Homer Spree had coffee with Kathern and I recently. Surely do hope we get some rain but not all those floods. No rain, no crop. Come on folks and give me the news. So, long for now.

Hi. you all--well, here we are again Mrs. S. Crisp visited me the other day; she says, they have plenty of snakes too. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Anders from Inez came over and we took our lunch and fished and hunted, picked berries, killed snakes: I didn't charm the snakes so good. Mrs. Dave Woods from Lolita visited me. Those visiting on the Anders ranch Sunday were Mr. ahd Mrs Herman Anders of Vanderbilt Mr. and Mrs. Gus Anders of Inez; Mrs. V J. Zetka of Edna: Frank, Anders and family. Those visiting the Anderson were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Marcarvell and children and Ann and Eugene Jr. from El Campo. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Zak and girls, Patsy, Lillie, Mae, Jerelene, Barbara and Dona Kay from Point Comfort At the Vibrocks Mr. and Mrs. Levi Quinn and son, daughter Wilma, and Leroy from Refugio. Mr. and Mrs Billy Parsons and son, Billy Marcus, from Lake Jackson, Mrs. Hershel Lonamon of Lake Jackson. Carl Smith is in for a visit with his mother, I know she is glad he is in the navy. Mr. and Mrs. Smith of Texana visited her daughter in Beaumont, it seems she wants to get acquainted with her granddaughter Boy was I surprised when Ray picked up the phone and Kenneth on the other end; he said Daddy, I am coming home the 7 of June I can't wait. We are going to have a big barbecue dinner. We sure are glad to hear that Donald Yoas got over his measles and was able to go back to school. Boy this is hot summertime, Be seeing you all.

Ray Anders said that he never thought he'd see the day when he could sit on his front porch and fish. But it looks like everyone at Texana can now. Well, we see Bill Quarles finally brought his family home with him. Boy, is Mrs. Quarles noted for her light bread. Mrs. Charlie Brandis visited in the Ray Anders home last week. Visiting Sunday was Mr. and Mrs. Homer Spree, Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Zetka of Edna and Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Sliva of Blessing. Well, a lot of water fell this week, but no news did. If anyone has any news just let me know, and don't catch all the fish, Ray, save some for another day.

Well, I see it is still hot and no rain. This is good weather for my poison ivy itch. I didn't know how many things money was good for. They say put a penny in vinegar, rub it on ivy, but I still have it. I think I better stay in the house. People just don't visit any more. Mrs. Sallie Doss of Edna saw her brother for the first time in 32 years. That's too long. Boy, that sure is a red boat of L. D. Anderson. I hope it doesn't scare all the fish away. Poor Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Yoas, are still deep in honey up to their ears, I mean bee honey. Well, I finally got to go to the bat [bay?] for supper. Rowena and family spent four days down there. Sunday we visited Cordele, our old place. Our nephew, Preston Miller, dropped by to see us. Do it again, Peanut. Our son-in-law, Weymen Harvey of Edna, went to camp at Fort Hood. He is a SP3. Let's all of us go to church every Sunday and pray for rain. If we get no rain, I hate to think what will be the outcome.

0h this weather and my aching bones. Well I will try to get a little news out of the neighbors Kenneth Anders and his fiancee Miss Agnes Schneider of Weimar visited on the Anders ranch Friday, then Mr. and Mrs V. J Zetka, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and my boss and I went swimming and floundering. This was the first time Agnes was ever at the bay--they just don't have such things up there.. She sure did enjoy the boat ride. I can't swim and when I looked down in the water it sure did look deep. I don't know who hollered the most Agnes or I. Well, it seems they just don't bite for Oklahoma men. My brother-in-law, Bill Byler, said he was going back home, he knew he could catch those fresh water fish down there. He said this was one time he was fished out, and not enough sleep Boy, I thought I drank coffee, but I can't stay with him! When he dies I am going to put a coffee pot on his grave, Ha! He is one of the best, though; sure hope you made it okay, Bill Mrs. L. D. Anderson and Mrs. D. M. McCall were visiting the other day. If you see a big monster coming down the road without a driver, look again, it is only Ray Anders on his new Case Tractor. I asked him why a big one and he said he was tired fooling around with one, so he has two Jessie Harvey and his brother. Delvin, from Vanderbilt visited on the ranch Those helping cook dinner for the combiners last Sunday were Mrs. Homer Spree of Edna, Mrs. Jus of Inez, Mrs. Zetka of Edna and Mrs. Harvey—cooked and washed dishes all day. Well, I see Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goldman of Edna are in good luck, Bonnie, Frank and son. Mrs. Harvey of Texana has been on the sick list, doing better now. Brenda Anders spent the day with Charlotte Vibrock Thursday. Well, this hot weather is good for the hay-makers Mrs. Pahmiyer? visited her folks, Mr. and Mrs. L D Anderson. My mother of Edna, Mrs. W. A. Southers, has had the virus; get well mother, we don't want to see you sick Mrs. D. M. McCall visited the Woods; she sure does, have some good hen eggs. Grandma Kelton told me to get more news from my neighbors, but you just can't get blood out of a turnip sometimes they don't go nowhere or do nothing, Ha! Lon Dean Crisp's foot finally got well; be careful Lon, where you go. Everyone go to church if you don't have your own, please visit some other one. If I don't fry in this hot weather, I will try again next week!

Well, it seems the Good Lord knows what is best for us--this is the weather for maize and hay makers. Mr. Weymen had the bad luck to mash his hand in the hay baler. Also Mrs. V__ Zitka and I went to El Campo to the doctor, she had an ingrown toenail cut out, it sure. is good, they give you sleeping pills. Mr. Henderson dropped by to say hello and how is the maize. Well, I guess Edna still looks good to some people. Mrs. McCall's daughter and man, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Elkins, of Freeport came for the weekend. Come again, friends. Mr. and Mrs. Quin of Refugio visited the L. C. Vibrocks. Our pastor, Mr. and Mrs. R. Odom and son and daughter, Robin and Barbara visited us Friday night. Buddy and David and Brenda Anders visited Rocky and Loncean and Velmer. I guess Mrs. F. A. Yoas turkeys through the other side of the fence was greener. If they get out holler and I will help you, Ha! Jessie Harvey dropped by. Mr. and Mrs. R. Tipton visited on the Anders ranch, Well we all have bad luck; Bill Quarles lost 42 acres of hegari; too bad we can't use grasshoppers, they are as thick as hair on a dog's back. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Anderson ate supper with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Pahmiyer and son. Also Mr. and Mrs. Weymen Harvey went to El Campo to the doctor, Well I see Forest Yoas finally got his hegari cut too. I sure will be glad when we all get through this hot weather, it’s no fun. The revival at the Temple is having some good preaching; we all should go for a good time in the Lord's House; it is wonderful to see lost souls saved. There is nothing like having a big family; I won a book on Billy Graham for having the biggest family at home, and was tickled pink, we sure do like Billy. Let's everybody go to church; you start going and it is like a habit. If I don't work myself to death, I will see you all.

Well, another hot day! Well there won't be any more Texana news. You write something and they take it the wrong way. It looks like the news gets mixed up, and then, O boy! It is not worth it, hurting anybody's feelings. And there is never much news. I always think it is nice to go to a baby shower. Mrs. I. C. Zacek and Mrs. Jim Browning gave Mrs. Kathern Harvey a shower in her sister's home, Mrs. V. J. Zetka, in town. Her guests were Mrs. Gail Goldman, Edna; Mrs. Swan Crisp, Texana; Mrs. W. D. Reynolds, Edna; grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Southers and aunt, Mrs. Fred Anders, Edna; her mother Mrs. R. F. Anders, Texana; her cousin, Mrs. Preston, Edna; aunt, Mrs. Homer Spree, Edna; Mrs. Spain Bailey, Edna; Mrs. George Tompkins, Edna; Mrs. Samie Milton, Edna; Mrs. Mrs. Jimmie Pahmiyer, and Mrs, L. D. Anderson. They served punch, cookies, and mints. Nelda Jean won the prize, a baby bottle, and she gave it to Kathern--she can use it. Many invited were sick and couldn't come, but sent her gifts, all were so pretty. Bless you all for your gifts. May the next guy have better luck than me. Mrs. Ray Anders
