Funeral service for Kary Williams, Sr., 85, of Fresno formerly of Cedar Lake will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Pastor Kirk eulogizing and Pastor Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

He passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Rosenberg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rosenberg, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Williams; parents, Jim and Sophie Williams; grandson, James Williams; son, Lawrence Wayne Wiley; stepson, David Wiley; sisters, Mary Smith, Flora Rowe and Savannah Washington; brothers, Roosevelt Anderson, James Williams and Robert Williams.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; sons, Kary Williams, Jr., (Judy), West Virginia, Gary Young (Natalie) and Corey Williams (Gennifer) both of Houston; daughters, Renona Anderson (Johnny) and Bridgett Williams both of Houston and Margaret Williams, Fresno; good friend, Hattie Runnels; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, other relative and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Vernice James Smith, Bobby Stokes, Jr., Ashton Winfree, O’Neil Washington, Artie “Squirt: McDonald and Nick Kirk.

Wake will be Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brookhaven Baptist Church, 1101 Theresa Street, Houston, TX 77051.

Lexie Charles Williams

ARCOLA – Lexie Charles Williams, age 63, departed from this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

Lexie was born February 15, 1941, in Cedar Lane, Texas, to Abraham Williams and Arie Hawkins. A "trucker" by trade for many years, he enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling. He was of the Baptist faith.

Lexie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Williams; sons, Seautry Harkless of Galveston, and John Anthony Williams of Arcola; daughters, Savannah Taylor and husband, Richard of Galveston, Bonita Murphy and husband, Ray of Bay City, Rotonda Harkless of Texas City, Brenda Jackson and husband, Joe of La Marque, Leslie Amos and husband, Howard of La Marque, Paula Williams of Arcola, Cathy Justice of Texas City, and Shaun Williams of Texas City; brother, Roy Williams of Bay City; sisters, Mary Lou Williams of Bay City, Ester Williams of Bay City, Grace Williams of Cedar Lane, and Lavenia Williams of Houston; 14 grand children; 5 great grandchildren; aunt Cresela Washington of Cedar Lane; devoted cousins, Jimmy and Abraham Washington; best friends, Herman Biggers and Constanine Spiro; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 16, 2004, at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake, Texas, Rev. Bree officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m to 6 p.m., with a wake from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 I - 45 North in Texas City.

Mary Williams

Funeral services for Mary Williams, 92, of Sweeny will be at 11 a. m. on Saturday, March 14, at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Rev. Eugene Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake. Visitation is Friday afternoon until 9 p. m. at Green’s Mortuary.

Ms. Williams passed away Saturday, March 7 at Vencor Hospital in Houston. She was born May 20, 1906 to the union of Jim Williams and Carrie Carter Williams in Matagorda County.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew who she raised, Sarah Jones of Sweeny, Mary Washington, Delores Helms, Betty Lou, Martha Mae Brown and Mary Williams and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be her family.

Funeral services for Monical Young-Williams, 43, of Pearland, formerly of Clute, will be Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 9302 County Rd. 318, Brazoria with Rev. L.C. Dews, officiating.  Burial will be at Bethlehem Christian Cemetery.

She passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Pearland Medical Center in Pearland, TX.

Monical graduated from Van Vleck in the class of 1991.  She was an Art Institute Culinary School graduate, Cosmetology School graduate, a Process Tech. graduate and had an Associates’ Degree in Business Administration.  She enjoyed scrapbooking, cooking and event planning.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Young and by her husband, George Williams.

Webster Williams

Williams, Webster, 65, died Tuesday at home in Sweeny, was a former resident of Cedar Lake. Funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Lloyd Brown officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lethie Williams of Sweeny; four daughters, Mrs. Rowie Green of Cedar Lane, Miss Bettie Williams of Sweeny, Mrs. Dennie August of Houston and Mrs. Martha Brown of Danciger. Also three sons, Claude Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla., Clarence Williams of Cedar Lake and Webster Williams Jr. of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Taylor of Sweeny, Mrs. Lisa Jane Bradford of Brownsville, Mrs. Sarah Bivins of Hitchcock and Mrs. Mrs. Vergie L. Thomas of Sweeny, and two brothers, Jimmie Williams of West Columbia and Monroe Williams of Sweeny. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Duncan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie Ada Bryant Williams
October 6, 1893 – March 23, 1973

On October 6, 1893, a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bryant in Matagorda County, Texas, named Willie Ada.

She grew up in the Cedar Lake Community and attended school there.

She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Alexander Fletcher Sr. who preceded her in death.

In later years she moved to Angleton and united with the First Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. H. L Hubbard. In 1958 her health began failing her so she moved to Brazoria to live with her daughter.

She then placed her membership with the St. Paul Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her death.

She departed this life Friday, March 23, at 11:30 P.M. at the Angleton Danbury Hospital in Angleton, Texas.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons two daughters, two sisters, sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service: Wednesday, March 28, 1973, 2:30 P. M., Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas, Rev. G. W. Singleton Jr., Pastor St. Paul Baptist Church, officiating and Rev. H. L. Hubbard, M. C.

Alzenia Merchant-Woodard

On July 5, 1897, a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Merchant in Cedar Lake, Texas, whom they named Alzenia.

She grew up to womanhood and attended public school in the Cedar Lake Community.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Henry Woodard, at Bethlehem Christian Church, and here she served faithfully until her death.

In 1919, Alzenia was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Andrew Woodard. They reared one foster daughter, Mrs. Angeline Brown Edison, who preceded her in death.

Her life came to an end on Wednesday, January 13, 1988, at 8:30 P.M. in Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City, Texas. Many memories will be cherished by her two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Woodard of Cedar Lake and Mrs. L. B. Bonner of Lake Jackson.

Andrew Woodard

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Willis Woodard on June 15, 1896 in Cedar Lake, Texas, a son whom they named Andrew.

He attended Public School in the Cedar Lake Community. He confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Henry Woodard, Sr. He served as the Church Janitor approximately 30 years, or more until his health started failing. He was also a member of the American Woodmen.

He departed this life Thursday, April 29, 1976, at 6 A. M. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Alzenia Woodard, one foster daughter Mrs. Angeline Brown Edison of Freeport, three foster grandchildren, three foster great-grands, two sisters, Mrs. Elnora Williams of Brazoria and Mrs. Mary Thomas of Cedar Lake, one aunt, Mrs. Hattie Whiteside of Houston, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Casanova Brown, Elisha Thomas, Leroy Woodard, Andrew Thomas, John L. Alexander, Roy Lee Woodard, Albert Thomas and Howard Woodard.

Service was held Sunday, May 2, 1976, 1:30 P. M., Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas with Rev. Lloyd Brown officiating.

Funeral services for Annie Lee Woodard, 102, of Cedar Lake will be held at 1 p. m. Saturday, June 12, 1999 at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake, with Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethlehem Community Cemetery in Cedar Lake. Visitation will be from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. Friday with a Wake will be from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. Friday.

Mrs. Woodard died June 3 at Angleton-Danbury Hospital. She is survived by one son Ulysess Elmore Woodard and wife Beulah of San Francisco; two daughters, Lilla Mae Robbins and husband Hosea of Houston and Mary Lee Crecy and husband Robert of Brazoria; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great gret grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Rev. Bruce Crecy, Gary Woodard, Sylvester Edison, Larry Edison, Brian Edison and Theophis Woodard.

Archie Woodard

Funeral services for Archie Woodard, 82, of Brazoria will be Sat. Feb. 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake.

He died Jan. 24, 2003 at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was a member of Brazoria Masonic Lodge #104, Trustee at Bethlehem Christian Church, and a member of Union Local #80 and a funeral parking attendant at Dixon Funeral Home.

He is survived by; wife, Minnie Ola Woodard, Brazoria; three sons, Nathaniel Woodard (Marie), Austin, Raleigh Woodard (Estella) Pearland, Jimmie Woodard, Houston; three brothers, Albert Woodard, Raleigh Woodard (Helen), all of Houston, Horace Woodard (Girtha), Cedar Lake; one sister, Eunice Helms (Aaron), Brazoria; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Arthur Woodard
May 16, 1923 – November 11, 1959

Deacon Arthur Woodard was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Woodard, born in Brazoria, Texas, May 16, 1923. He spent his childhood days in this county, attended public school, joined the Bethlehem Christian Church under the pastorage of Rev. R. H, Page. He grew to manhood and in 1941, during World War II was called to the duty of his country. He spent four years in service.

He married Miss Tena Lee Williams on March 29, 1952. They moved to Sweeny, Texas and made their home. On August 17th he became ill.

He departed this life Wednesday night, November 11, 1959 at 11:20 P. M. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Tena Lee Woodard, seven brothers, two sisters, a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and other relatives and friends.

Barbara Jene Woodard

Funeral services for Barbara Jene Woodard, 54, formerly of Kerrville, of Houston, will be Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake.

She died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Woodard of Kerrville; five brothers, Clarence Gee (Mary Ann Mayes) of Freeport, James Woodard of Beaumont, Robert Woodard (Carolyn) of Houston, Milton Sidney (Elizabeth) of Cedar Lake, Rudolph Wheatfall Jr. (Gloria) of Kerrville; one sister, Dian Jackson (Val) of Houston; one grandchild, Dekorian Woodard; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
