Funeral services for Juanita May Woodard, 65, of Brazoria will be at 2:00 p. m., Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Hwy. 6 Church of Christ in Alvin with Bro. Arthur Bacon, officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Cemetery in Cedar Lake.

She passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at U. T. M. B. in Galveston.

She was a member of Hwy. 6 Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her special son, Aaron Turner.

She is survived by six daughters, Freda Johnson (Henry) of West Columbia, Cynthia Turner of Clute, Felicia Hall (Ellis), Gwen Williams (Alexander), Gay Woodard all of Brazoria, Ercella Meyers (Andre) of Pasadena; a special son, Franklin Meyers; nine stepsons, Kim O. Woodard (Paula), Marvin D. Woodard, all of Freeport, Alden C. Woodard (Carol) of Bay City, Gilbert A. Woodard (Angie Woodard), Derrick D. Woodard, all of Brazoria, Preston V. Woodard (Jolin) of Lake Jackson, John C. Woodard (Keisha) of Pasadena, Tracey D. Woodard (Angel) of North Carolina, Samuel Woodard (Marie) of Galveston; five brothers, Amos May (Cecile), James May all of Alvin, Harold May (Rose) Crosby, David May of Houston, Anderson May (Ruth) of Beaumont; one sister, Jeanette Cofield (William) of Alvin; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Hall, John Thomas, Reginald Hall, Terry Mack, Raymond Simmons, Maurice Woodard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Johnson, Allen Turner, Damien Johnson, Courtland Meyers, Chandler Meyers and Frank Meyers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2002 at Dixon Funeral Home Chapel.

Kary Woodard, Sr.

January 7, 1911 - September 20, 1975

On January 7, 1911, Kary Woodard, Sr. was born to Henry and Marget Woodard in Matagorda County, Texas.

He attended Public School in the Cedar Lake Community.

He joined Bethlehem Christian Church at an early age. He leaves to mourn his passing, three children, Mrs. Ann Davis of Bay City, Mrs. Hilda Marie Jammer of Brazoria and Kary Woodard Jr. of Hitchcock, 19 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Nancy Morgan of Brazoria and Mrs. Martha Ward of Cedar Lake, 3 brothers, Joe Woodard of Houston, Wells and Jack Woodard of Brazoria and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He departed this life Friday, September 20, 1975.

Funeral service Wednesday, September 24, 1975, 1:00 P. M., Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas, Rev. Caldwell Brown, officiating.

L. D. Woodard

Funeral services for L. D. Woodard of Houston will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday at Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, with the Rev. Anthony Groves officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Woodard died April 15, 1987, at the V. A. Hospital in Houston.

He is survived by several relatives including his mother, Helen Williams of Cedar Lake and his sister, Estella Marshall, also of Cedar Lake.

Matilda Merchant Woodard

Funeral services for Matilda Merchant Woodard, 90, of Bay City, will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Lloyd Brown officiating. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake.

Mrs. Woodard was born July 5, 1902 in Cedar Lake to J. R. and Angeline Austin Merchant and died June 25, 1993 at Lake Jackson Nursing Home in Lake Jackson.

She was a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Maggie Loe and Clarence Wright of Brazoria, Juanita Murphy and Mamie Lou and Robert Smith of Cedar Lake and Margaret Leda and Roy Brown of Danciger; a son, Cleveland Woodard Jr. of Hawkinsville; a foster son and his wife, Everett T. and Margaret Gee of Bay City; a granddaughter she reared and a grandson-in-law, Matilda Ann and Elijah James of Smithville; 39 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Woodard was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers and sisters; her husband, Cleveland Woodard Sr. in 1967; and four children, Alice Mae Woodard, Eula Mae Woodard, Roosenbert Woodard and Vernon Woodard.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons and elders of Bethlehem Christian Church.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Minnie Ola Woodard

Funeral services for Minnie Ola "Janie" Woodard, 89, of Brazoria will be Monday, January 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

 

She died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Woodlake Nursing Home in Clute, Texas.

 

She was a devoted member of Bethlehem Christian Church. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star and a past member of the usher board. Janie was a wonderful homemaker and was well known for her "hot water cornbread". You could find her sitting on her back porch with a guest drinking coffee. She was devoted to her family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Woodard, parents, Savannah Gee and Ambrous Goodwin, son, Cuney Mack Woodard, sisters, Joeanna Claybon White (Sistergirl) and Delia Dean, grandson, Marshall "Pete" Woodard and step granddaughter, Erica Woodard Jason.

  

Left to cherish her memories and teachings are her sons, Raleigh (Estella) Woodard of Pearland, Jimmie Lee Woodard of Brazoria; stepson, Nathaniel (Marie) Woodard of Austin; one especially devoted grandson, Cuney (Yolanda) Woodard, Jr. of Brazoria; daughter-in-law, Linda Woodard of Houston; sisters, Martha Jones of Brazoria, Minnie Ola Hoyle and Hester Henderson of Houston; brothers, James (Judy) Goodwin and John (Bessie) Goodwin of Brazoria, Lester (Lewanna) Goodwin of Houston; sister-in-law, Cora Goodwin of Brazoria; special friend, Ms. Willie Jammer of Brazoria; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. 

 

Active pallbearers will be Labradford Green, Justin Thomas, Justin Woodard, Keary Woodard, Montre Woodard and Rodrick Alan Woodard.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Green, Albert Woodard, Cuney Mack Woodard, Jr., Keenan Woodard, Jimmie Lee Woodard, Nathaniel Woodard and Raleigh A. Woodard. 

 

Visitation will be Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. only. There will be no viewing afterward.

Moses Woodard

Funeral services for Moses Woodard, 45 of Houston formerly of Cedar Lake will be Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas. He died Monday, July 14, 2008 at LBJ Hospital in Houston, Tx. He was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated with the Class of 1981 from Van Vleck High School thereafter, he spent one year at Prairie View A.M. University. He was a very talented individual and loved to sing and decorate. He worked for many years at a Site Director at Head Start and worked as a Service Assistant at Richmond State School. Children held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Murphy, Sr. and sister, Lucinda Jackson. He is survived by his loving mother, Juanita Murphy, Cedar Lake, son, Ellis Baker of Lake Jackson, brothers, Clyde Murphy, Jr, Kenneth Woodard, Sr., Bobby Woodard, and George Robinson (Sylvia) all of Cedar Lake, Robert Murphy (Mamie), Houston, Marshall Murphy and Travis Robinson, Jr. (Catherine) of Cedar Lane, Lonnie Woodard (Loris) of Brazoria, sisters, Betty Stevenson, Freeport, Cynthia Townsend, Cedar Lake, Shirley Stredick, Rita Murphy, Nelia Smith and Georgia Eveilo all of Houston and other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Spencer, James Wright, Elgin Woodard, John Bonner Jr., Paul Ellis, Corey Johnson Sr., Eric Martain. Nathaniel Woodard

On July 4, 1893, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Willis Woodard in Cedar Lake, Texas, named Nathaniel.

At an early age he was baptized by the late Rev. Henry Woodard. He attended school in Cedar Lake.

The angels have visited again and taken from our midst Mr. Nathaniel Woodard. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Jane L. Woodard, one son, Nathaniel Woodard, Jr. of Cedar Lake, two sisters, Mrs. Elnora Williams of Mims and Mrs. Mary Thomas of Cedar Lake, one brother, Andrew Woodard of Cedar Lake. Two granddaughters, Mrs. Sophia Guidry and Mrs. Mary Jane Paye, two great-grandchildren, Shon and Reginald Guidry, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Nathaniel “Mub” Woodard Jr.

Nathaniel “Mub” Woodard Jr., 67, of Seguin and formerly of Cedar Lake, will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Larry Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 4 to 9 p. m. Friday at the Dixon Funeral Home chapel in Brazoria.

Mr. Woodard died May 9, 1991, at a hospital in Seguin.

He served in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include two daughters, Sophie Mae Woodard Guidry of Saint Martindale, La., and Mary Jane Woodard Payne of Hephzibah, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Elisha Thomas, A. B. Jones, Albert Smith Jr., Andrew Thomas Sr., Thomas Bernard, Kenneth Woodard, Lester Urps and John L. Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers are Reginald Guidry, Alex Payne, Morris Guidry, D’Andrea Barnes, Lawrence Burnett, Elery Alexander, Wayne Alexander, Clyde Murphy, Tommie Williams and Remius Woodard.

Arrangements are by Eunice and Lee Mortuary of Seguin, and local arrangements are with Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria.

Otis Woodard

Funeral services for Otis Woodard, 73, of Brazoria will be held 1 p. m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Brother A. L. Bacon officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake. Visitation is until 9 p. m. today at Dixon Funeral Home chapel in Brazoria.

Mr. Woodard was born in Cedar Lake to Ervin and Ada Woodard and he died July 23, 1992 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

He was a member of Highway 6 Church of Christ in Alvin.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Woodard of Brazoria; nine sons, Kim O. Woodard of Pledger, Samuel W. Woodward of Galveston, Tracy D. Woodard of Fort Sills, Okla. and Alden C. Woodard, Marvin D. Woodard, Gilbert A. Woodard, Preston U. Woodard, John C. Woodard and Derrick C. Woodard, all of Brazoria; seven daughters, Gay R. Woodard of Freeport, Jackie Woodard of Galveston, Cynthia Turner of Angleton, Felicia Hall of Richmond, Ercella Meyers of Lake Jackson and Gwen Green and Freda Johnson, both of Brazoria; four brothers, Horace Woodard of Cedar Lake, Archie Woodard of Brazoria and Albert Woodard and Raleigh S. Woodard, both of Houston; two sisters, Hattie Jammer and Eunice Helm, both of Brazoria; 32 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jarvis Helm, Franklin Meyers, Ellis Hall, William Harriest, Radolph Mack and Anthony Mack. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Horace, Archie, Albert and Raleigh Woodard and the brothers of the Highway 6 Church of Christ in Alvin.

Richard Woodard

Funeral services for Richard "Bubba Dean"-"Chuck" Woodard, 67 of Houston formerly of Cedar Lake was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with the Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

He died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Survivors include: brothers, Larry Young (Shelida) of Brazoria, Joe Young of Cedar Lane, Jimmie Young and John Young III (Shirley) both of Houston; sisters, Lillie B. Young, Dorothy Pharms and Ollie Young all of Houston; aunts, Carrie Green of Cedar Lane and Mary Wilson of Houston, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers were Roland Woodard, Dorrell Woodard, Jerome Brown, Charles Pharms, Kevin Woodard and Jaquail Young.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Young, Joe Young, Jimmie Young, John Young III, Andre Young, Gregory Young and Mark Young.

Visitation was held from noon until 8 p.m., on Friday, March 17, 2006 at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria, Texas.
