Claude C. Mason Dies at His Home In Markham
November 28, 1877 – February 19, 1937

 

Claude C. Mason, age 59 years, two months and 21 days, died at his home this morning at Markham at 2:15. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Matchett, and the funeral will be held from the home of Mr. Mason, Saturday morning at 10 o’clock.

 

Besides his wife, he is survived by: two sons, Curtis and Howard, and three daughters, Janice, Clarabelle and Lizzie Marie. He was also a brother-in-law to Mr. Pat and Mr. Frank Thompson of Bay City.

 

Following the funeral services from his home in Markham, burial will be held in Cedarvale Cemetery here.

June 4, 1909 – July 31, 1989

 

Funeral services for Curtis Mason, 80, of San Antonio, will be held 3:00 PM Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

 

Mr. Mason was born June 4, 1909, in El Campo to Claude C. and Clara Thompson Mason, and died July 31, 1989, at a hospital in San Antonio.

 

Survivors include: two sisters, Janice Collins of San Antonio and Elizabeth Payne of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and a brother, H. I. Mason of Houston.

 

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Bay City.

Marietta Milton
July 4, 1922 – July 31, 1950

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilery Milton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barber of Markham, were held Thursday afternoon at the Markham Methodist Church with the Rev. E. F. Kluck officiating.

Mrs. Milton, a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died July 31 of polio.

Survivors include: her husband and one son, Hilery Milton, Jr., both of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Mrs. Paul Davidson of Houston; one brother, Graham Barber of Corpus Christi.

Taylor Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Olga Mae Doubek Moore
1875 – 1958

Mrs. Olga Mae Moore, 83, died at the Matagorda General Hospital Sunday, August 24, 1958. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 o’clock, Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Aubrey C. Maxted officiating. Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers were N. O. Reed, Henry Rugeley, Frank Lewis, W. B. Serrill, George Serrill, Jr., and Gifford Reiman.

Mrs. Moore is survived by: one sister, Mrs. Frank R. Moore and one brother, V. H. Doubek, Bay City.

Lloyd Lee O’Neal, Jr.

July 21, 1914 – December 18, 1987

 

Memorial services for Lloyd Lee “Junior” O’Neal of Houma, Louisiana, will be held Saturday at First Baptist Church, Houma.

 

Mr. O’Neal was born July 21, 1914, in Bay City, to Lloyd Lee and Ceola Lewis O’Neal and died December 18, 1987, in Houma.

 

His early years were spent in Gulf, Texas, and then the family moved to Newgulf. He was very active in Boy Scouts, earning the highest honor as an Eagle Scout and was a scoutmaster and a leader of Boy Scouting in Newgulf and the South Texas region for many years.

 

He was a charter member of the Newgulf Baptist Church and was active in the church as a boy and young man. He was a member of the Wharton Masonic Lodge 621 and after moving to Houma was active in Masonic Lodge Unity No. 267 A.F.&A.M. until his death.

 

He was retired from Texas Gulf after 40 years of service, spending several years in the plant’s Mexico operations, then as a scout, and in Louisiana, he was a member of Bully Camp operations until his retirement on April 1, 1977.

 

Survivors include his wife, Lydia of Houma; a daughter, Bonnie Marie Bucek; a brother, Willmer O’Neal of Houston; four grandchildren, Michael Byrd, Mac, Chrystal and Marc Bucek; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, persons can make donations to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral For Matt Ottis To Be Held Saturday Morn’g

The funeral for Matt Ottis, killed instantly Monday night when the car in which he was returning to Bay City from Chalmers turned over at the intersection of the Chalmers Spur and the Wharton Highway about six miles north of Bay City, will be held from the Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery. Walker-Matchett will be in charge of the services.

Matt Ottis, age 38, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ottis of Central Oklahoma, was a successful rice farmer and cattleman. He had a big rice crop in the making this year at his farm in Rosharon. In this county he was extensively engaged in the raising of cattle and his death came immediately after a hard day of work with his cattle near Chalmers.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, also his father and two brothers and three sisters survive. The funeral has been help up awaiting the arrival of a sister from Colorado.
