Mrs. Nina Mildred Shibley, a resident of the city for the past three years, died suddenly at her home here in Bay City. Mrs. Shibley had attended church Sunday night and seemed in the best of health. She died soon after reaching her home.

Mrs. Shibley, a beloved Christian lady, had endeared herself into the hearts of the people in the city although she had lived here a comparatively short time. She moved here with her son, Ervin, when he came to Bay City with Mr. Frank Rakestraw to work at the Bay City Rice Mills. Albert A. Shoultz           Hannah Shoultz

Albert A. Shoultz
1855 – 1930

Death just before midnight on Thursday, September 18, removed from life’s activities, dear friends and relatives another native citizen of this county, and a resident of Bay City since its earliest days, our friend, fellow townsman and good man, Albert A. Shoultz.

Mr. Shoultz died at the home of his son-in-law, A. E. Miller, Houston, Texas, after an illness of several days. The funeral will be held from the Baptist Church tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock, with the Rev. Odis Rainer, Baptist pastor, officiating. Interment will take place immediately following in Cedarvale Cemetery.

A little over a year ago, on August 28, 1929, the lifelong companion of this good man departed this life and left him to be looked after and cared for by their children. Everything was done for his comfort and welfare, but all the love and careful “looking after” on the part of his devoted son and daughters and of the sons-in-law and daughter-in-law could not bring him from under the spell of despondency which seemed to enshroud him from the moment his good wife left him. More than once he remarked to the writer, and we were good friends, “I am so lonesome.” And loneliness took him from this life to eternal companionship beyond. This modest, peace loving, quiet and sincere soul is happy now in the spirit world with the one who walked by his side through a long journey of life on earth.

Mr. Shoultz was born in Matagorda 75 years and 27 days ago and was reared and married there. When Bay City was young he moved to Bay City and has resided here uninterruptedly. He was a man of quiet and unassuming disposition, a friend of everyone, and strong and sincere in religious belief. He lived a life of simplicity and honesty and made a success of it in every way, for all who knew him respected and honored him.

Mr. Shoultz is survived by one son A. L. (Roy) Shoultz of this city, and by two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Miller of Houston and Mrs. D. A. Bomba of Raymondville. Eight grandchildren also survive him.
